Guest guest
mAyA in Hinduism is a Feminine word. In Hindi language, we have Masculine and Feminine words- what we call 'streeling' ( feminine) and 'puling'( freminine) words. mAyA has been described as 'Prakriti' in the srimad Bhagwat Gita. mAyA has been described as the great 'Magical power' in the Rig Veda. maYa is the eternal feminine principle - "the Shakti" of the tantras. Respected members! i request our Gita Acharya shri Sadanandji to explore and explain the mAya's 'Prakriti' aspect in the Srimad Bhagwat Gita. i AM SURE THIS WILL BE AN 'INGENIOUS' COMMENTARY. mAyA - as the 'magical power' or the great cosmic mystery in the vedas- Ken-ji, this is a great opportunity to 'summarize' the june topic in a crisp format. This will be an 'icing' on the cake! smiles!!! and of course, professorji ! could you kindly explain to this audience mAyA in her role as the divine 'feminine' power - Yaa devi sarva bhuteshu 'sakti' rupena sanstitha? But, folks! we DO not want to limit mAya only to these three roles. She is all this and much more. Swami Krishnananda ( DLF) says eloquently " Maya is Indescribable (Sat-Asat-Vilakshana Anadi Bhava Rupa Anirvachaniya Maya). She is neither Sat nor Asat. Maya is Anadi Santam. She is beginningless but has an end only for the sage who has realised the Self. Maya is Suddha Sattwa or pure Sattwa. " Our BELOVED MANI-JI can do an excellent job of explaining the above passage. There are many in this forum who for some reason are being bystanders! In this game of Chess, everyone is a player ... the bystanders also. SUNDERJI, ARE YOU READING THIS? our chitta-ji has raised a very interesting point- MAYA IS A STREE ! IS SHE A MERELY A STREE OR A PHENOMENON? Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size But when I start to tell them, They think I'm telling lies. I say, It's in the reach of my arms The span of my hips, The stride of my step, The curl of my lips. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me. I walk into a room Just as cool as you please, And to a man, The fellows stand or Fall down on their knees. Then they swarm around me, A hive of honey bees. I say, It's the fire in my eyes, And the flash of my teeth, The swing in my waist, And the joy in my feet. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me. Men themselves have wondered What they see in me. They try so much But they can't touch My inner mystery. When I try to show them They say they still can't see. I say, It's in the arch of my back, The sun of my smile, The ride of my breasts, The grace of my style. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me. Now you understand Just why my head's not bowed. I don't shout or jump about Or have to talk real loud. When you see me passing It ought to make you proud. I say, It's in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair, the palm of my hand, The need of my care, 'Cause I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me. (Maya Angelou - the great American Poetess) The earthly woman is only one aspect of Maya . But the heavenly women , the various shaktis are a class in themselves. For all is Consciousness as Shakti. "Aham Stri," as the Advaitabhavopanisad exclaims. Salutations to MAYA -SHAKTI!

Namaste, One memorable note about mAyA that Tulsi describes, almost at the end of his magnum opus, may be recalled now. mAyA is a nartakI, says Tulsi. She has such superlative feminine charms that no masculine force can overcome them, much less, can afford not to fall flat under those charms! It is only the feminine power of bhakti -- not the masculine force of karma, jnAna, or yoga (none of which is feminine in the grammar of words)-- that can be a match for this grand nartakI of Creation, says he. And so he says, through bhakti one should do kIrtan in order to overcome mAyA. And Sathya Sai Baba plays upon this idea here. He says, kIrtan is the antidote to this nartakI because, it is 'kIrtaN' that uproots the 'nartakI'. Note that the two words, written in Hindi or Sanskrit, are the reverses of each other! PraNAms to all charms of mAyA. profvk

Guest guest
sadaji, your beautiful and talented daughter, Keertana , is of course an accomplished Kuchpudi dancer just liker her mother, Mrinalini. Keertana is also a medical doctor , if i am not mistaken. Healing the sick and nursing the wounded - that is a noble profession!! Yes, i know doctors make a lot of money in this country and are lured by maya , the $$$$$$$ SIGN... but not our Indian doctors - at least, the ones i know. They do follow the 'Hippocrates' oath in letter and spirit. The best part is many of them pump back the money they earn in chartible endeavours here at home and abroad , in india!!! in any case, all the funds that are earned through dance concerts where your beloved wife and daughter perform are for supporting charitable causes!!! karma yoga takes on many forms !!!! love and regards advaitin, kuntimaddi sadananda <kuntimaddisada> wrote: > --- "V. Although icing is sweet this is not the sweetness of sruti. When the cake's icing is over-indulged it loses its sweetness. A summary or definition may taste sweet to start with but soon its limitations are revealed and we must chisel away at it. A 'neti, neti' process. This cannot happen with sruti. It is madhur, it is svadh. Search the scriptures and see what the heart/mind reveals as a meaning. Ultimately, mAyA is anirvacaniya. It cannot be formulated or defined. Its meaning is in itself. All definitions are merely kindling for yajna; may the purifying fires burn. As the fires burn the light of the Word itself is revealed; by Agni is Agni inflamed. Ken Knight PS. Sorry not to be contributing at the moment but a maelstrom of unpredicted activities are swirling around with every rakshasa in the locality proving that it too has the power to appear as many and churn my hopes for a quiet life. ===== ‘From this Supreme Self are all these, indeed, breathed forth.’ Vote for the stars of 's next ad campaign! http://advision.webevents.//votelifeengine/
