Thank you! Thank you so much for those 2 verses from 'svetashtara '

upanishads.I am told Svetashtara upanishads is also the basis for Sri

vidya upasana. ( not sure! learned member can confirm this.)

 

TWO MORE VERSES from the same Svetashtara upanishad

 

chhandaa.nsi yaGYaaH kratavo vrataani

bhuutaM bhavya.n yachcha vedaa vadanti .

asmaan.h maayii sR^ijate vishvameta\-

ttasmi.nshchaanyo maayayaa sanniruddhaH .. ( 4.9).

 

 

The sacred verses, the offerings (yajna), the sacrifices (kratu), the

penances (vrata), the past, the future and all that the Vedas

declare, have been produced from the imperishable Brahman. Brahman

projects the universe through the power of Its maya. Again, in that

universe Brahman as the jiva is entangled through maya.

 

maayaa.n tu prakR^iti.n vidyaanmaayina.n cha maheshvaram.h .

tasyavayavabhuutaistu vyaapta.n sarvamida.n jagat.h .. (4.10)

 

 

Know, then, that prakriti is maya and that Great God is the Lord of

maya. The whole universe is filled with objects which are parts of

His being.(4.10)

 

Yes! the Power of Maya... maya -shakti. NOT JUST SOME MAGIC SPELL OF

A STREET MAGICIAN BUT 'CREATIVE' POWER OF MAYA . THE GREAT COSMIC

MYSTERY OR SPELL! mAyA- Bhi as our beloved Kenji would say !!!

 

AND is that not why our beloved Lord Krisha is called Mayeshwera?

profound knowledge on so many aspects of Hinduism.

 

HOW CAN ONE KNOW mAyA ? that is the next question ? is it by negation

or by transcending it?

Sri Krishna's answer: 7:14 ; also 18:61-63

 

 

daivii hyeshhaa guNamayii mama maayaa duratyayaa .

maameva ye prapadyante maayaametaaM taranti te .. 7\-14..

 

 

How, again, do they cross over this divine Maya of Visnu, constituted

by the three gunas? That is being stated:

 

14. Since this divine Maya of Mine which is constituted by the gunas

is difficult to cross over, (therefore) those who take refuge in Me

alone cross over this Maya.

 

Hi, since; esa, this, aforesaid; daivi, divine; Maya mama, of Mine, of

God, of Visnu, which (Maya) is My own; and which is guna-mayi,

constituted by the gunas; is duratyaya, difficult to cross over;

therefore, this being so, ye, those who; wholeheartedly prapadyante,

take refuge; mam eva, in Me alone, in Me who am the Master of Maya and

who am their own Self, by giving up all forms of rites and duties; te,

they; taranti, cross over; etam, this; mayam, Maya, which deludes all

beings. That is to say, they become freed from the bondage of the world.
