Guest guest
Respected Members, Namaste, Yes, I am Not the Tooth. Till when? Thanks to a severe toothache, as when it visits me (?) I will know for truth, whether I am the Tooth or the Truth!!! Dear members, we are all in Vyvahara State, none can help it. Reality is not a State. It is “is”, i.e. “in and through” all the States, “Sutre Mani gana iva”. Even after enfoldment that I am Happiness itself, toothache will not spare me. That is how it is. Then what is the use of knowing “Aham Brahmasmi” or “I am Happiness itself”? All that is to be known is that “toothache like any other ache will also pass” and have titiksha as a danta-vyadha or a toothache is only Swakale Asti or Sat-vat Bhati. Where does the toothache go, once the fellow enters the deep sleep state? All these so-called States “Anubhati” or shines after. Shines after what? If “I” is absent can there be any of these states, let alone the toothache? While lighting up these States, including our dear toothache, the lighter i.e. “I” is not affected at all, like the Sun irrespective of what It lights up or where Its rays fall. However, who says “I am suffering from such a severe toothache?” Self-knowledge or the knowledge of “I” helps you to “arrest” that fellow, that Imposter, who shouts, “I am suffering from pain”. Who is “arresting” the Imposter? The Imposter himself, but only when the knowledge takes place. It is the Imposter or the Ignorant Ego, who needs to be tackled. There is nothing to be negated nor sublated. In Creation everything is useful. Mithya is not something, which needs any negation. Swamiji used to tell a story. A half-gnani (maybe like me) very proud of his Vedanta knowledge and equally arrogant went to a banana shop. He bought three bananas, ate the fruits and threw the peels on the road. He gave a little lecture to the vendor and said “see how I negated the Mithya, i.e. banana peels, and separated Satyam.” The bewildered vendor could not understand anything. The gnani came out of the shop and fully engrossed in Manana about Satyam and Mithya, stepped on the banana peels he threw out. Lo! He fell down with a big thud on his back and the bananas he ate came out through his mouth. He wondered whether Peel was Satyam or the fruit! Everything has its own place and its own value. What is to be negated is the notion that the world of objects brings me happiness or unhappiness or I am bound by the Samsara or the world. One’s real swaroopa, which never changes, itself is Happiness. The “real real” is only “I”. Just like we cannot define “Real” we also cannot define “I” stripped of all its attributes. And that I is Consciousness, i.e. Ekam Eva Adviteeyam. And since it is “Ekam” and that too “Eva” and Adviteeyam, it can never be defined nor can it be an object of experience. It is a fact just for recognition and appreciation. Since it is self-effulgent and one without a second, it needs no definition, and may I quote from Advaita Makarandam (?) “Aham Asmi Sada Bhami” i.e. “I Exist and Always Shine”. Even “Aham Brahmasmi”, though the fact about “that I”, requires that “I” or Consciousness to make it shine.
