Guest guest
Dearest advaithins, Yes!Our beloved chitta has been quoting a lot of western philosophers in his presentation - from Descartes to kent to whoever! so, i got curious! i could not follow many of the thoughts that were presented --- to my poetical mind, philosophy is hard to grasp... but guess what - poets make very good philosophers and the converse is also true!! take william blake or john keats or omar khayyam or rumi or tagore for instance - great poets as well as great philosophers!! and so i did a little bit of searching ... soul searching as well as book searching? now, how to keep up with chitta's esoteric presentations ? sankara's adwaitha itself is hard to grasp and then you bring in all these other great minds from the west like Descartes, Kent, Russel, Berkley etc... - I feel like 'Alice in MAYA- LAND'!!! so, i went and got myself a primer on philosophy - Confessions of a Philosopher Bryan Magee (The author shares his personal discovery of philosophical questions and the great philosophers, while introducing the reader to the ideas of Russell, Kant, Nietzsche, and Popper. ) this book is available at Amazon.com. maybe, this will enable me to be on the same 'wavelength' with Chitta who by the way is doing an excellent job of presenting Sankara's adwaitha in an appealing way to both the eastern and western audience in this great forum !! anyway, i will leave you with this quote from my favorite author Mark Twain ... "Don't part with your illusions. When they are gone you may still exist, but you have ceased to live." and i lOVE this JAGAT WITH ALL ITS ILLUSIONS.
