Guest guest
Greg-ji comments (Finding no person (past or present), and no divine figure that I resonated with, I noticed I was related most closely with the Mandukya Upanishad. So I purchased an extra copy, and put the one I had been studying on my altar. For several years it occupied the same place on my altar (and in my heart) that photographs or drawings of human and divine ones occupy on other people's altars. It didn't feel strange to me, though it was a bit strange to talk about if I had visitors who were devotees of Ramana Maharshi or Jesus! ) Do not worry! All through my teen years and uptil until marriage (when i was 23) Elvis presley occupied a pride of place on my dresser mirror .... This was replaced by a picture of my handsome husband in army uniform - in fact, everywhere i turned there he was on the walls of my bedroom, my dresser mirror and in the locket of the chain i wore around my neck... as he was always away on military duty away from the family, this is the way i kept him close to my heart.. then a miracle happened !!! one by one the kids started arriving- first a girl baby, then my only son followed by another daughter! husband's pics were soon replaced by kids pics .... and now by grandkids pics... but in the ALTAR OF MY GOPI HEART - it is lord Krishna who ALWAYS REIGNED SUPREME! AADI PURUSHAM GOVINDAM AHAM BHAJAMI! ( I BOW TO THE SUPREME PERSON , LORD KRISHNA) and any day Bhagwan Ramana Maharishi would rather have you worshipping Mandukya upanishads than a picture of him. Bhagwan never believed in that sort of 'hero' worship ... in fact, he never even liked being called a GU-RU - A TOTALLY EGO-LESS PERSON. wHat 'upanishads' a person reads tells us a lot about that person!!! so, greg-ji, i already can kind of figure out what floats your boat!!! smiles.... why " mandukya" among THE TEN UPANISHADS? MANDUKYA means 'FROG' ... This means our Greg-ji DOES NOT LIKE GOING 'STEP BY STEP' rather, he likes to 'leap' like a frog headlong into the path of Jnana ! Greg-ji writes... " This is where a wise human teacher perhaps could have served the purpose. That person can possibly serve as the preceptor from whom the teachings flow, as well as the focal point for the opening of one's heart. But after looking for over a year, I had found no such person. " Greg-ji, do not give up hope! When the sisya is ready, the Guru APPEARS! "The truth of the Self cannot come through one who has not realized that he is the Self. The intellect cannot reveal the Self, beyond its duality of subject and object. They who see themselves in all and all in them help others through spiritual osmosis to realize the Self themselves. This awakening you have known comes not through logic and scholarship, but from close association with a realized teacher. (Katha Up. Part 1, 2:9, p. 85) and believe me, one of these days .... You will meet him/her ! and then We will all be your 'sisyas' ! Smiles ! love recognizing love
