Guest guest
Namaste, dear members, Adi Behnji writes : <<How to conquer all the lowly passions and all the ASHTA VARGAS ? (eightfold obstacles) - Kama (Lust), Krodha (anger), Lobha (greed/coveteousness ) , Moha (delusion) , Mada, (pride), Matsarya (jealousy) , Darpa (arrogance), Dambha (hypocrisy)and the king of them Ahamkara ( e-go) ? This are the demons in all of us.>> IMHO the conquering approach makes it very difficult for one, as such “conquering” IMHO is never possible nor is required to live one’s life “happily”. Swamiji said recently in one of his Lectures (a series appearing in Sanskar TV every Sunday at 5 pm (Indian time)) it is “in order” and natural for one to be inflicted by the shad urmies (or ashta vargas as said above) as any order is His Order. Nobody wants to be angry, lusty, greedy, jealous, etc., and these emotions just take place, as they are effects and for effects causes must be there. So it is His Order only. The physical order, the biological order, etc. etc. and psychological order also, is nothing but His order and if there is any disorder in any order, that too is His order. All emotions that take place are “effects” and there cannot be an effect without a “cause”. It is in order for shad urmies to be there, because it is a question of “cause and effect” law. So it is in order to be angry, etc. It does not however, mean that it is a sanction for one to be angry etc. But, when anger comes, one should accept it as “psychological order” and it is just normal for a person to get angry, to become jealously etc. All is “His Order” and if we try to go against His Order, it will mean “rubbing” and in the process one gets rubbed himself. IMHO, the problem is “I accept my anger, etc. and I justify them, as I have reasons, causes for my anger, in accommodating that”. However, when it comes to “you” my whole approach is entirely different. I cannot accept your anger etc., though I accept my anger. If I accept my anger etc., I should give freedom to you also to have your anger etc., because it is “psychological order” and all such Orders are the manifestations of the Lord only. Such “giving freedom to you” is only giving freedom to me not rub, and that is maturity. In Bhagavad Gita, (Ch 12) “Adveshta sarvabhootanam onwards) and (Ch 13) from “Anamnitwam adambhitwam” onwards) all the “qualities” mentioned are reflection of Gnanam only. All these qualities shine themselves (does not take place) once Self Knowledge is unfolded, because “the negative qualities” shine themselves only due to Ignorance or absence of Self Knowledge. One can certainly FAKE these qualities and MAKE it, sooner or later. But such Faking may not work always. However, in one in gnana-nishta, these qualities shine themselves. They take place on removal of Self Ignorance. How to be in gnana-nishta? I feel, as I often quote, one must engage himself in “tat kadhanam, and tat parasparabodhanam” whenever one has an opportunity to do so; and whenever one’s mind is not occupied in any thoughts connected with one’s mundane and routine activities, one should engage his mind in “tat chintanam”. (“Tat chintanam” is thinking about that, i.e. not exactly God, but the Knowledge about God and Knowledge about one’s own self, and self of all seen and unseen, and the identity of God and self; “tat kadhanam” is talking about That knowledge to others, whenever there is an opportunity and “tat parasparabodhanam” mutually dwelling on That, i.e. That Knowledge, with like minded people, so that one gets one gets totally immersed/absorbed with that knowledge. I consider this “bodhanam” as most important, and once this bodhanam takes place the awareness of that knowledge becomes natural, i.e. one need not practice that Knowledge, just like a man does not have to practice the knowledge that he is a man, and he is aware of that fact all the time, or that awareness is never absent and he never has any thought that he is not a man.) The one and only “Sadhana” I try to do with regard to Self Knowledge is “Tat Chintanam, Tat Kadhanam and Tat Parasparabodhanam” and I hope I am not arrogant or “showing off” when I say that I am slowly growing over these “enemies” referred to by Adi Behnji. This growing over is not conquering, but sitting un-agitated, udaseenaha, even when these enemies try to attack me, and also giving freedom to others to have these “bad/negative qualities” as it is psychological order. There is no more running after anything in order to become happy, because such running after is generally done to become happy, once one feels or comes to know that “that thing one runs after” will make him happy. Before that feeling or knowledge/rather notion, that that thing would bring him happiness, he was already happy, and so he knows that he need not run after anything to become happy. Also I always try to perceive everything as Lord’s manifestation only. As Poonthanam sings in his Gnana Pana “Mathi undenkil okkey mathi” i.e. when there is Wisdom Contentment follows. Guest guest
Namaste, ....how to give freedom?... Selfrealization is needed to "give" freedom.....to the world....which appear in kind on "form" depending on our own mind....and consciousness...and meditation....or whatever I beleive nobody can "give" freedom to anybody....except freedom to the own heart...in the home of Brahman.....and so "give" acceptance to the "appearence" of the world....and "give" tolerance to everybody.....doesn't matter the "practice" he/she do or not.... In everybody is Brahman at home....our eyes can't perceive Brahman as long the heart is not filled up with Brahman....in "pure consciousness"....or "meditation"....or whatever i wish tears of love to Brahman.... wish tears of love to Brahman living in the heart... to Brahman living everywhere....in everybody.... with love Marc
