Guest guest
Prabhu-ji ! i am delighted to learn that you will be soon leading the discussion on ' Adhyaropa and Apavada' ... This is your finest Hour - to shine like a Luminous Sun true to your name (Bhaskar) spreading radiance and knowledge ... i can see your Guru speaking through you! i know you will do a wonderful job of presenting this topic in all its multi-facets . My only helpful hint to you would be to take time to provide English translation for the Sanskrit words that you will use in the discussion. This would help the non-sanskrit knowing members in this group! Smiles! >From what i know this topic was already discussed somewhat in the advaitin-l list and i have read some posts by Stig-ji and also your responses... i miss our Stig-ji and i hope he will reincarnate again to take part in the discussions ... i had read Sri Narayana Guru's poetic rendition on this subject translated in English from Sanskrit and i found it fascinating ! Here is the link http://www.donberry.com/Philosophy/ Darsana/dm2.html - 5k - Cached actually, this topic is going to be a continuation of 'Purnamidam', and ' 'Real and Unreal ' ! My gurudeva always advised me not to get stuck on 'Visions' in Sadhana - he always advised me to move beyond them and go deeper and deeper ! My humble suggestion to all partipants is to not get stuck on the 'metaphors ' and to move beyond them! Metaphors have only limited purpose ! smiles ! i can already see the metaphors of 'rope- snake' analogy and 'mother of pearl' etc resurfacing again! MAYA will also creep up during the discussion in all her glory - Don't let HER overpower you - if you submit to HER , She WILL PULL THE PARTIPANTS IN ALL FOUR DIRECTIONS!smiles! Bala-ji had mentioned earlier in another context ( Bhrama's four heads) about 1) Maitri 2) Karuna 3)Mudita 4) Upeksha Yes , dear hearts ! Friendship with the holy, Compassion for the afflicted, Rejoicing in the joy of the virtuous and being indifferent to the shortcomings of the sinful- is that NOT what SATSANGHA ALL ABOUT? i will be visiting Orlando , Florida from OCT 10th to OCT 19th - i can already hear my son-in-law whispering to my daughter " we have just been through four major Hurricanes in six weeks ! don't tell me Another One is coming?" LOL!!! i will just share what Gandhi-ji said on the following subjects "I believe in *Advaita,* I believe in the essential unity of man and for that matter of all that lives" "Use truth as your anvil, nonviolence as your hammer and anything that does not stand the test when it is brought to the anvil of truth and hammered with ahimsa, reject as non-Hindu" "I have felt that the Gita teaches us that what cannot be followed out in day-to-day practice cannot be called religion. " Thank you! Hari AUM!

Guest guest
Bhaskar Prabhu-ji ! We will all be eagerly looking forward to the first installment on 'Adhyaropa and Apavada' ... hopefully , it will generate more 'light' than 'heat' - smiles!!!! in reality, it is going to be a continuation of Chitta's 'real and unreal ' series ... Please be sure to check out Narayana Guru's FINE exposition on this subject ... as you know , anything in Poetic form appeals to me ! Sri Ramana Maharishi has also written a beautiful explanation of the same ... i will post the link later on. So, our stig-ji is in Bangalore ? Yes! the whole state of Mysore wears a festive look during the Dussehra festival. I am sure Stig-ji is enjoying his stay in Bangalore - the cutural and the religious side ... Please convey our best wishes to him and we hope he will share his experiences with us! Something that our beloved Nair-ji in another context wrote caught my attention (Looks like I have infected my otherwise mundane better half. She has taken to reading advaita material and there is this biography of BhagawAn Ramana Maharshi nowadays always on the bed with the sage looking directly into our hearts from the glistening cover page. Every time I pass by the book, I am impelled to lift and raise it to my chest and forehead as I always do with the pictures of Mother, my prayer book with Meenakshi on the cover page, SrImad Bhagwad Geetha etc. ) well, may be you might all like to read what sri Narayana guru says in this context.... The wife does not adore only the husband, nor the husband the wife. It is the very form of highest Value they adore, shining within every sense object. SAADAR PRANAAMS! > > To Adi mAtAji : > > thanks a lot for the links & all the kind words. I shall try to read it > if I get the acces to the net.
