maayaapurIhR^idayapaN^kajasaMnivishhTam.h .

shraddhaanadIvimalachittajalaabhishhekai\-

rnityaM samaadhikusumairnapunarbhavaaya .. 9..

 

guruH = teacher

uvaacha = replied

 

aaraadhayaami = (I) worship, propitiate

maNi = gem

saMnibham = like (similar to)

aatma = Self

linN^gam = symbol

maayaa = apparitional

purI = city

hR^idaya = heart

paN^kaja = lotus

saMnivishhTam = abiding

shraddhaa = faith

nadI = river

vimala = pure

chitta = mind

jala = water

abhishhekaiH = ceremonial bath

nityaM = continuously

samaadhi = profound meditation

kusumaiH = flowers

na = not

punaH = again

bhavaaya = (for) birth

 

The Teacher replied:

 

I worship the Symbol of the Self, shining like a gem, abiding in the

apparitional city

of the lotus of the heart, by ceremoniously bathing It with the waters

of the Pure Mind

from the River of Faith, and (offering) Flowers of unbroken

Meditation, for the

sake of Immortality.
