puNya = virtue

paapa = sin

rajaH = impurity

saN^gaH = attachment

mama = mine

na = not

asti = is

iti = thus

vedanam = knowing

paadyaM = (ritual) washing of feet (with water)

samarpayet = offer

vidvaan = wise one

sarva = all

kalmashha = moral stains

naashanam = destruction

The wise one should offer the water for the ritual washing of the

removes all moral stains, by knowing thus: 'The impurity of attachment

exists not

for me, either for virtue or for sin.'
