Guest guest
> My dear, atman,My mind wants to know whether dualism is correct or > non-dualism is correct. This is very troubling thing to my mind. i see that the message is posted in agony. this agony is due to beleif (a form of sankalpa, sankalpa is born out of kalpanA). who asked one to beleive that there is an Atman? it is our fault to start with such an assumption. we cannot blame ramaNa, Sankara, rAmAnuja or mAdhva for it. what is Atman? the dualist will give one definition and the non-dualist another. when u don't know whom to beleive, it is best not to beleive that there is an Atman. this might sound defiant to members here, but what im trying to say is this. u r the one who has to find out if the universe is one and non-dual or is it dual. to do so, instead of thinking there is a soul, look for the truth objectively. whatever is the truth will then become known. if it is non-duality which is right, so will u know it. if it is duality, u will know it thus. why the trouble? this is dharma. dharma it is if one looks for the truth. not searching for a soul, imagining it as either localized within the body or as spread out everywhere. both r mere imaginations and hv nothing to do with the truth. i wish we all hv less attachment for such concepts as soul or mAyA (they r best suited for a dining room discussion) and put in the same effort into dharma and search for the truth. swami vivekanada said: 'it is better to be an atheist and use one's reason than to beleive blindly. im sure god will forgive a person who uses the faculty of reason he has gifted to him.' -balaji
