Fear is probably a natural happening in the sequence

of things such as in this example: A boat cutting

loose out of a mooring will seem to drift with the

current and the boatman who initially was fearful of

the drift would soon master it.

If we dissect fear, we may be left with an answer

that, it is probably caused due to a new experience or

thought that cannot be directly related to something

known and having an expectation of a loss of something

worthwhile.

So much for theory…

We can see examples from Nachiketa (Upanishads) and

Arjuna (Bhagavad-Gita) who faced fear boldly and

eventually got the better of it.

It probably needs some introspection and pondering

over ‘Who am I’, ‘Who is engulfed in fear’, ‘What is

it that engulfs’.

Best Regards,

Raghava

Intense fear may be experienced in the very depth of meditation at times and

sometimes before merging of the individuality in the Heart. The shock of

fear of death drove Sri Ramana into deep inquiry leading him to Realization.

This very question of fear was put to Sri Ramana by Major Chadwick (later

known as Sadhu Arunachala) and Sri Ramana has commented on it.

It is all part of the normal process. Sri Ramana has said that whatever one

experiences, with steadfastness, one should remain in inquiry in awareness.

Love to all

thank you Raghava,

it was wonderful to reread the Katha Upanishad. Nachiketas had a

fearless heart.

When Chadwick mentioned his fear to Bhagawan some people in the hall

"scoffed" at him. But later on in privacy many came up to him and

admitted that it had happened to them as well.

Remain as the one witnessing the emotion fear.
