Namaste,

I'am reading the BSB notes by Sri Sadananda. At the end of "adhyaasa

bhaasya - 6388 BSB Notes adhyasa bhashya -e.txt", a couple of

objections raised by other non-advaitin schools is mentioned, viz

1. Who or what is the locus of avidya?

2. Ontological status of pramaaNa

I would be interested in the answers for the above questions. Where

can I find this in the advaitin group messages?

Thanks & Regards

Partha

Namaste,

These references may help you:

advaitin/message/23836

Sadaji's discussionscan be found at:

(you will have to search for all his messages, and then follow the

threads under BSB)

Shree Parthasarathy Sastry - Pranaams. Some of it might have been

discussed in the Advaita Manjari series - I have to continue that series

once I retire!

This has been the basic question of Bhagavan Ramanuja - the seven

untenables of adviata discussed as part of his mahapuurva puurva paksha.

I think I had provided a response to those in one of mails - The best

reference is a text by Prof. John Grimes - on Seven untenables - it is

part of his Ph.D. thesis.

Any pramaana (means of knowledge) is within the realm of vyavahaara

only. That includes even the Veda-s. The absolute is aprameyam - that

is beyond any means of knowledge since as JK says - 'truth is a pathless

land'. That is advaita. pramana is within dwaita since there pramaa,

prameya and pramaata. All the duality merges into one in the ultimate

truth.
