Guest guest
Hari OM! Jai Poojya Gurudev! Acharyopasanam Acharyopasanam means service to the teacher, it indicates the specific aspects of student teacher relationship, "Service and Surrender". Care must be taken in choosing the Teacher who will receive the service. Expression of acaryopasanam can lead to exploitation of the value holder if the teacher is not a responsible person. Service to the theacher implies a whole frame of mind towards the teacher a frame of mind characterised by surrender of personal ego, subordination of personal likes and dislikes, a willingness to give without demand for return, and a general attitude of respect and devotion. A great personal surrender, This kind of surrender to another person should be made only when the person to whom surrender is made has no need for the surrender. no need for the service, no need of any kind to be the beneficiary of the attitude of acaryopasanam. Only a person who has clear steady knoledge of the turth of self is without needs, not like the persons most of them nowadays Vedanta teaching is an upadhi to make money, not the established Ashrams but indiviudals who is in disguise of a Sanyasin or Brahmachari, influences educated people, and demands acaryopasanam and also they get respect and money for their family, what a pity nowadays, in the name of Vedanta and Hinduism, there are lot of fake as Lord Krishna says"Mithyacharis" nowadays. When the teacher is one true to his name and the nature of service is understood the surrender of acaryopasanam is a beatiful and acceptable thing. In gaining any discipline of knowledge respect for the teacher is an essential element. With Love & OM! Krishna Prasad
Guest guest
Namaste to all All On Acharyaopasanam I would like to share something I have heard. Given that the Acharya has no desires and has renounced everything what is the best dakshina a sishya can give? It is practising and making an effort to live by the acharya's teachings that is the best Gurudakshina. Swmai Tejomayananda, head of Chinmaya Mission during his discourse in London earlier this year gave a illuminating perspective on Achayaopasanam. He said that Upasana means to 'sit near'. When you sit near a Guru ( As in not facing him but sitting next to him) you see what he sees- this is the literal version. The philosophy behind this concept is that the disciple is encouraged to develop a view and vision which is that of the Guru's. This is the best dakshina a disciple can give his Achaarya. Many Namaskarams to all Sridhar advaitin, "Krishna Prasad" <rkrishp99@g...> wrote: > > Hari OM! Guest guest
Namaste Sridharji. Thank you for your illuminating post. In fact, we have been unpardonably forgetting values these last few days and chasing Reality not reaching anywhere at all! Yet, I would love to know how you would relate Swamiji's explanation with the classic vision of Lord DakshiNAmUrthy facing south and His disciples sitting facing Him on the north. PraNAms.
