Advaitin List Moderators ================================================================================\ \ Warm regards, I am a graduate student from Penn State University who has by some devine grace got attracted to the other side of material existence. Born into a advaitist tradition, I have never had any inkling to do any more than good deeds. But having been exposed to Bhagavid Gita and the Bhagavadham, here in the US, I am entralled and would to take it up very seriously. We have a society which practices Krnsa Conciousness, thanks to which I have even started to gauage what I am missing. A lot of things we discuss is in strict acordance to the Vedas. But my roots in advaita is not allowing myself to accept certain aspects. I am now in a cross-road where I need to decide what is my goal and which path to follow. I have spend more than a year within the Krsna Conciousness philosophy, carefully filtering things I am not accustomed to and which is not exactly what I have been imbibed with thus far. But ofcourse, a speculative mind can go only thus far. If I have to gain more knowledge, I am convinced I have to give in 100% to whatever that school proposes. My father is an advaitist and has been actively reading the Vedas and Upanishads for the last 15 years. Although I could never comprehend him then, now i wish I could discuss things. but ofcourse, he's in India. This online forum would serve to substitute it to a certain extent. I am more than eager to know more of what Advaita is all about and then make a concious attempt to make a decision which God willing will be what I deserve. I have read thru some of the messages and I have some questions from my side too. It'd be nice if I could be allowed to participate in the discussions.
