Namaste,

Maharshi's cutting of the Gordian knot of dvaita-advaita !

(Talks) –5th ed., 1972

p. 117

"M. : …………When the source of the I-thought is reached it vanishes and

what remains over is the Self.

D. : Patanjali Yoga Sutras speak of identification.

M. : Identification with the Supreme is only the other name for the

destruction of the ego."

p. 401

"M. : Yogas chitta vritti nirodhaH (Yoga is to check the mind from

changing).- which is acceptable to all. That is also the goal of all.

The method is chosen according to one's own fitness. The goal for all

is the same. Yet different names are given to the goal only to suit

the process preliminary to reaching the goal. Bhakti, Yoga, Jnana are

all the same. svasvarUpAnusandhAnam bhaktirity abhidhiiyate

(Self-contemplation is called bhakti).

D> : Does Bhagavan advocate advaita?

M. : Dvaita and advaita are relative terms. They are based on the

sense of duality. The Self is as it is. There is neither dvaita nor

advaita. I AM THAT I AM. Simple Being is the Self.".

p. 461-462

"Visitor: What does samyamana mean in Patanjali Yoga Sutra?

"M. : One-pointedness of mind.

D. By such samyamana in the Heart, chitta samvit is said to result.

What does it mean?

M.: Chitta samvit is Atma Jnana, i.e. Knowledge of the Self."

For a Jnani there is no Pramana, Shastra, Sampradaya, Samanvaya,

purvapaksha etc.... He only sees Himself so why is there a need to

prove anything him. It is only for the ajnani like me who has to be

very clear.

in the last analysis, this is all that is required to know.

once the long hard road of philosophical-meaphysical inquiry,

speculation, conjecture, and introspection is traversed, and the

light at the end of that arduous protracted tunnel is seen, the very

threshold itself holds the simplest most basic revelation of all: as

sri ramana has said--and virtually *all* the jagadgurus distilled

teachings also convey--that "simple Being is the Self."

as jesus said, "those who have ears, let them hear."

namaskaar,

Namaste,

Maharshi's answers were in response to questions by an

'ajnani', and He was quite clear about it.

When Maharshi Ramana replied samyamana on the heart results in

chitta samvit, that is Atma Jnana, there was no ambiguity about it either.

Namaste Sunderji,

What I was trying to say was that the burden of methods, precision in

teaching etc... may not be there for the Jnani.
