Guest guest
Question regarding the reincarnating soul (from the Rigveda) Dear Scholars, At the moment I'm doing some translation work on the Rig-veda. One Mantra caught my attention, "May your eyes go (merge) into the Sun, may your Prana merge into the wind. Go, according to your merit, to earth, heaven or the intermediate space, if your benefit is there. Be established in plants with your limbs." (10-16-3). Let me come to the point. I want to understand the last sentence a bit more - "Be established in plants with your limbs". I remember somewhere Bhagavan Madhva mentions, I think in the BrahmaSutra Bhashyam, that before taking birth the soul comes down with the raining waters and then enters into the plants, which are consumed by the parents, and then eventually enters the human body. I can't find the place where such discussion occurs. Could anyone guide me with providing the exact reference? Is there any other place, where you think I could get a similar explanation? Has any other Acharya mentioned something that could be helpful in understanding this statement from the Rig-veda? I would also like to know if anyone can remember any mentioning in any authoritative scripture about the process that a reincarnating soul has to go through. Thank you, Siddhartha Krishna
