Dogma is a word with negative connotations. However, if by "dogmatic" you mean a priori belief in certain features, advaita vedanta is every bit dogmatic. There are certain beliefs of advaita vedanta which are non-negotiable and do not depend upon any external proof. It accepts shruti as unquestionable and only pramana for realizing the truth. This belief is based not on any logic but on shraddha. Discussions in advaita vedanta are not on whether shruti is a pramana; but GIVEN that shruti is pramana, how to realize the truth. If you are doubtful about the means of realization of truth, you are on the wrong list. In Advaita Vedanta, this issue is already settled in favor of shruti. There is no reinventing of wheel on this issue. Call it "dogmatic" if it pleases you, but advaita vedanta is only for those who already have this implicit faith in the shruti as the sole means of realization. Debate on subsequent issues starts only after acceptance of this basic premise of advaita vedanta. Regards. Note by Moderator: Further remarks elaborating the same idea were removed.
