Namaste, Thank you Chittaranjan-ji for an admirable summing up. As the month of April topic comes up for a new topic (Gita in Daily Life), I would like to conclude my part on the above topic with the following comments: Sw. Bharati Tirtha wrote this subhashita: aj~nebhyo granthinaH shreShThaa granthibhyo dhaariNo varaaH . dhaaribhyo j~naaninaH shreShThaa j~naanibhyo vyavasaayinaH .. Better are those who read the scriptures than those who do not. Better than those who merely read, are those who keep in mind what they read. Better than those who just remember, are those who understand. Better than those who just know, are those who practise what they have understood. Sw. Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamigal, Sringeri To paraphrase this and extrapolate to a parable from Sri Ramakrishna: Better are those who enter the orchard than those who stay outside. Better are those who count the leaves on the trees in the orchard. Better still are those who taste the fruits on the trees, but debate the taste of the fruits. Better yet are those who go and meet the owner of the orchard, who explains the varieties and hosts a banquet for them! For those who have not read the dialogue between Kanchi Paramacharya and Prof. Nakamura, a Buddhist scholar from Japan, the following article on Shankara Sampradaya will open new vistas. advaitin [shankara sampradaya]. I just wish that we can try to emulate the take home message from this "code of conduct (manusmR^iti)" rather than the academic discussions of virtual reality as imagined in the dreams.
