Guest guest
Namaste all. This is on exhausting of vAsanAs thru karmasu-kaulasaM. Every chapter shows one unique method to exhaust vAsanAs. 2:62 dhyAyatO: Root cause for attachment and karma lies in thinking about sense-objects. vAsanAs are an accumulation of all of above. Thus, one usually has a reservoir of vAsanAs to exhaust, with a tiny portion in each life. Thus, if the collection of vAsanAs is like a water-reservoir of a hydro-electric dam, its slow exhaustion is like a small water-tap with trickling water. This calls for a better solution than a slow exhaustion. -------------------- In Swami Chinmayanada's Geeta-1and2, P.56, the master says, "Thus, we find Krsna repeatedly goading his friend with the words, "Get up and fight.".. It is a call to each one of us to get up and fight the battle of our own life, according to our vAsanAs (sva-dharma), so that we may exhaust them and thus gain inner purity. --------------------- Here is a summary from Annie Besant's book on Karma on 'the ceasing of karma'. "Karma" by Annie Besant, publ. The Theosophical Publishing House,Adyar, Chennai, India. The contents, I have re-organized into a sequence of smaller parts. In our usual terminology, parts 1 thru 5 together will constitute karmasu-kausalam. Part-1 : Generation of never-ending Karma:- ---------- Thoughts and feelings are for ever generating karma. This calls for a solution to the ceasing of karma. It was given to neither a hermit nor a student, but to a great warrior immersed in the duties of his state. Binding force lies- --not in action but in desire --not in action but in attachment to its fruit The soul thus expects or desires the fruit and Nature must respond. Part-2 : Solution to Ceasing of karma:- ------ Thus, if this connection is extinguished, bonds of the heart are broken and the soul is free. Karma can no longer bind the soul. The wheel of cause and effect may continue to turn, but the soul has become the liberated Life. Part-3 : What then become of the actions performed :- ------------------- 3.a) Of the actions being performed then, Seeking to conform to the Law on any plane of activity, (s)he aims at becoming a force working with the Divine Will for evolution 3.b) thus, all his actions are offered for the turning of the Wheel of Law, not for any fruits; the fruit is given with joy. Part-4 : Inherent dangers to be cautious against :- ------------------ Here comes a mistake also in killing the heart so as to break its bonds. On the contrary, as the disciple progresses, he becomes more sensitive, and not less so; he becomes more tender and not more hard..... Part-5 : A bond that never breaks :- --- But there is one bond that breaks not ever, the bond of that real unity which is no bond, for it cannot be distinguished as separate, that which unites the One to the All..
