Dear Group,

I want to tell you of a new book that will be of interest to all in

this group. It was published recently by Ramana Maharshi Centre of

Learning (RMCL) in Bangalore.

The book is "Essence of Inquiry" by I.M. Nome of SAT (Society of

Abidance in Truth, in Santa Cruz, CA, USA, wwwsatramana.org). It is,

I believe, the first published commentary on Ramana's Self-Inquiry,

the first words recorded of Ramana's teaching.

A.R. Natarajan writes in his forward,

" Quite obviously, Nome writes not from book knowledge but from

experience. This is so from questions one to question forty. There is

no false note, no wavering or understanding.

One cannot but be grateful to Nome for opening our eyes to many

rare gems embedded in this work of Ramana, which is somewhat

neglected. I am thankful to Nome for giving me an opportunity of

writing a Foreword to this spiritual treasure."

I have listened to Nome provide such commentary on Ramana's

teachings. I am often taken by the depth of the view presented by

Nome. These commentaries have helped me be able to `access' more of

the depths of Ramana's teaching. I am so grateful to RMCL for

publishing this work.

This is a new book, I am note sure where it cam be found. Certainly

it can be found from RMCL, email ramanabangaalore . I

understand it is also to be found in the Ramanasramam bookstore. It

is also in the SAT bookstore, though not yet on their booklist. I

think an email to sat could get you information on

ordering from SAT.

I have not read all of it yet. I have read enough that I would

recommend that anyone interested in Ramana's teaching and self-

inquiry get this book, read it, reflect upon what they read, and

deeply meditate upon what is presented.

Not two,

Richard
