Guest guest
"Now the solution as Raghavji points out from the Gita is to submit to the divine will and leave everything to that Will." I too struggled with making sense of the above idea in real life. Shri Pandurang Shastri Athavle in one of his lectures said a few things which helped me a lot. The general framework is not to leave everything to divine will for this quickly leads to escapism - I have seen it in one of my friends. For this implies that we think of God as someone who is constantly poking around our affairs and meddling with our life sometimes in a beneficial way, sometimes not. Simply put, we are not so important for God to be constantly paying attention to us. Rather, the general framework should be that God , according to His Will, has given us certain capabilities. And now, we must strive not to bother Him too much and independantly proceed with our duties in life. To realize this in practical life, it becomes important to develop a relation of love and devotion to a personal God. Thus, when we are faced with an adverse circumstance, we dont just let God take care of it for that is "disturbing" God. Instead we try to tackle that situation overselves. Also, with any adverse problem (like the example of my neighbour insulting me quoted by prof. VK ji.), there is the real problem (say my dog does routinely pee in his garden) and there is the problem as we perceive it.(his kids make such a racket all the time that i cant take my afternoon nap.. and this makes me so mad and has consumed me to such an extent that my mind doesnt even hear what he is saying) If we let our emotions/ego get overtly in the way, we can never go beyond the perceived problem to apprehend the real situation. And so regular practice of the 5 yamas and 5 niyamas becomes essential. -Mayuresh.
