Guest guest
Dear friends, In some of the works by Sri Adi Shankar, learnt meditation on the 'Self' as a means to realization. But in various temples and even one temple of the Sringeri mutt i found people chanting on beads. So is this totally contradictory to Sir Sankar's teaching or does it have some relation or benefit to Brahman realization ? thanking you all, ~akshay~
Guest guest
IMO, chanting is meant to keep the mind always tuned towards the Divine. It helps re-inforce in one's mind, the faith on the Eternal. What basically it achieves is that it makes the mind to focus on One thing, thereby giving the mind less room to wander away. i.e. it helps achieve Concentration, which is very essential for any meditation/contemplation on the Self. Have a Nice Day !
