Pranams to All.

Sri Ramakrishna used to beautifully harmonise the Saguna and the Nirguna

experiences.

That which is Brahma is Kali, the Mother, the Primal Energy. When inactive it is

called Brahma;when creating, preserving, destroying it is called Kali. What is

meaning of Kali? She Who communes with the Absolute, the Mahakala.

She is formelss and again has forms. There is no limit to spiritual experiences.

God is neither Saguna, nor Nirguna; and again He is Saguna and also Nirguna. And

who knows what else He is. How can man with his one ounce of intelligence know

the real nature of God.

It is like the case of ice floating in water. Same thing is sometimes Ice,

sometimes water. One who has never seen ice will say it is not water; one who

has only seen ice and not water will say this liquid is not ice. One who knows

both knows the truth. After Saguna comes the Nirguna experience, and yet after

Nirguna experience one gets the taste of Saguna. Without Saguna Nirguna is not;

and vice versa. One derives its meaning from another. One is Gold, the other the

God chain, one is Gem, the other its brilliance, one the spider, the other the

web it has created out of itself, one the sun, the other sun rays.

Where is sun minus the rays, or Gem minus its brilliance or Gold chain minus the

Gold. You take one away and another loses itself. It is God Himself who makes

people see things according to their different Gunas as at different

temperatures one sees ice and water.

The dogmatic view of one who d to either Nirguna or Saguna and any

other dogma always intrigued Sri Ramakrishna. How beautifully he expressed it

when He said,

"Mother, everyone says my watch is right. It shows the right time. But what is

the right time? Who has fixed it. The 'time' of the mind rest in the Time, the

Mahakal. None realises that and they quarrel over the time on their watch."
