KANAKADHARA YAJNAM

Thri Kalady Appan- Sree Krishna, Kula Deva of Shanakara had

always been prime refuge of Shankara. Once in child hood days of

shankara his beloved Mother Aryadevi fainted off on mile long way to

river Periyar (Poorna) for her routine bath. Helpless little Sankara

with tears took refuge of hisKula Deva Sree Krishna, who

blessed "River will flow where you mark with your feets", Instantly

the innocent child marked before his Krishna, and mighty Periyar

changed its course through the marking touching Lotus feets of

Krishna and getting consecrated. The risk of mile long walk for

Aryadevi for daily river bath was resolved with the blessings of Lord.

The village "Sasalam" became Kalady (feets) and blessed 'Apad

Bandhavan' became Thri Kalady Appan (Lord of Kalady) with the Holy

ghat wherein Kalady was born to be known as his "Aarattu Kadavu".

Puna-prathista of Sree Krishna to the present divine Shrine was done

by Shankara on that Thiruvonam star day of the month of Thulam in AD

795. Another instance of Shankara taking refuge of Thri Kalady Appan

was while going for 'bhiksha' as part of Upanayanam. He came across a

house of a poor old lady who had nothing but a dried amalka to offer

for bhiksha with a burning tears of helpless povert. Deeply touched

and moved by condition, once again Shankara took refuge of his

Krishna's wife Mahalakshmi with his poetic hymn "Kanaka Dhara Sthavam

Sthothram". As the ninteenth sloka concluded the golden amalkas of

fortune and prosperity showered into the door steps of that poor lady.

The house got famous as Swarnathu Mana (Swarnam- Gold). The

magnificient sloka Kanaka Dhara Sthavam very specially notcable for

its poetic touch. Sanakara in each of the 19 slokas opted to refer

Lakshmi devi, just like her shy look towards Vishnu, indirectly as

wife of Vishnu,Mukunda, Krishna - His Thri Kalady Appan.

This Kanakadhara Stothram is getting re-recited for all of us at

the Sankara's Kuladevan Lakshmipathy Sreekrishna- the very Thri

Kalady Appan- with the current successor of the blessed forntunes

from family of Swarnathu Mana decorating 'Agrasthanam'.

Succesors of Pazhoor Mana- the family of Sree Sankara's maternal

uncles and Thalaettumpilly and Kappilly Mana's- the only 2 out of

10 'nambudiri' families who helped Sree Sankaracharya in due

cremation of maother Aryadevi's body-also are participating.

A chosen group of 32 Archakas representing 32 years of life of

Sankara will be reciting "Kanakadhara Stothram" with

due 'vrathashudhi' and Tantric Nishta. Devotees could get the

Kanakadhara Stothram recited in the chosen name and nakshathra before

merciful Thri Kalady Appan, Kula Devan of Sankara.A talisman

of 'Kanakadhara Yanthra' will be delivered as prasadam making your

fortunate participation. Apart from Archana one could take

participation in 8 'Parikalasams' and one Brahma Kalasam each day

upon to which all the archanas will be done. Daily all the 9 Kalasams

will be submitted in 'Abhisheka' to Lakshmi Narayana' deity very

specially designed for this purpose at the holy Arattu Kadavu of Thri

Kalady Appan, the spot where at blessed Kalady was born, and course

of Periyar was diverted. Golden Amalkas charged with Brahma Kalasa

Kanakadhara chants are available.

Abhishekam at Aarattukadavu and Lakshmi Narayana Arattu can also

be pre-booked in the names of those fortunate devotees. This is very

specially suggested for marital harmony and success.

Your presence and darshan of the unique holy event and mere

hearing of the hymns and darshan of merciful Thri Kalady Appan-

Krishna is the greatest of fortune and Punyam. All are invited to

have blessing of fortune of this Kanakadhara.
