Guest guest
Humble praNAm-s, (I've changed the subject line since we're no longer discussing the earlier controversial question about Sannyaasa, but the actual process) Mani-ji wrote: .... one just wonders why there are so many rituals one has to undergo before one "becomes" a Sanyasi. praveen: This question may be akin to, if I may humbly draw parallels, "if one has to leave his home anyway, why write a note?" Its just a process... can't we consider the sannyaasa ritual as writing a note? He's formally announcing that he hasn't anything to do with his past life (lives?), giving up his dvija-tva too. Sorry, for that matter, one may concern himself with the question on why does a sannyaasi have to do anything at all? Mani-ji wrote: Karmas or rituals do bring results, but keeping with the karmas performed and since karmas are within time, the results will also be within time. praveen: A sannyaasi tries to transcend this time concept that we have. Once over the sufficient self knowledge boundary that you mention, where does time, karma-s & their results bind him? On the same lines, if vedic rituals were to bind a sannyaasi too, then won't he be committing a blunder by renouncing his so-called dharma/responsibilities in vyavhaaric and thereby accruing sins? Mani-ji wrote: .... Though it may appear as a cruel practice for some, it is all relative. IMVHO, Advaita implore on one and all to rise above the relative fields. praveen: It does and maybe, the sannyaasi rises above the relative field. Perhaps, the measuring scale is different for a sannyaasi and the others. jai bajrangabali, --praveen
