The Mind which is nothing but a bundle of thoughts clinging onto the primal thought 'I' has to be directed towards the association of sajjana .A well directed thought is better than being in close proximity with the Guru or the sajjan. You can be with the Guru or sajjan but let not your mind wander to the far away lands. Be aware of where your mind /thought is at all times. By using this particular word chitham and not deham, , Adi Sankara has brought out the message of all the isms :be in the world but not of it. You can be a karma yogi [dwaithin] in appearance and a Jnani [ adwaithin] at heart.
