For even an appearance is a modification and that is not Nir Guna.>> Could you explain, please, what is a 'disembodied j~nAnI'?? When the ego is subsumed into the universal, it becomes the universal, it always was. The appearance of creation or illusion still exists. So the prarabda of the body/mind has to be carried out. Obviously the organs of sight and senses are still functioning in the body and mind and are 'sensed' by the vijnanamayakosa, or the localises mind of the universal Sakti. The disembodied Jnani is Nirguna Brahman..........Without any modification ever having happened. For even the universal Sakti never happened...............ONS...Tony.
