Guest guest
To Whom It May Concern, Quite late in Ghent, Belgium, Europe now. It is 3.27 am. Been studying Hinduism all that time, while surfing on various sites to come across this wonderful group, as God sent I must say. I am 67 of age today, while my whole life has been accentuated by “spirituality”. Born in a Roman Catholic family, I was from early age at seven very interested in religion. In fact, I wanted to become a monk. My parents opposed to the idea. At the age 21, having saved sufficient money for one year full board study, I went to a theological college. Afterwards, while working in a British firm in Brussels from 1966 to 1990, I studied theology with several institutions “extra muros”, the last one being the London Bible College. Meanwhile, I became an ordained priest in 1974, in Old Roman Catholicism. My interests in mysticism in fact , went farther than Christianity being interested in the practice of meditation in the late sixties. Therefore, very early, I also studied Hinduism, particularly the wonderful “Bhagavad Gita”. I realised that oneness is found in any religion, the Lord Krishna says: “Whosoever desires to worship whatever deity (using any name, form, and method) with faith (confidence), I make their faith steady in that very deity. Endowed with steady faith they worship that deity, and obtain their wishes through that deity. THOSE WISHES ARE, INDEED, granted only by Me. (Gita 7:21-22) That is very clear. One day (1998/9) I was asked by the American Gita Society (surfing on Internet) to translate the Gita in French and Dutch, and I did agree. It took me years to do it, while I greatly enlarged my personal library with books on the Gita, Sanskrit grammars, Hinduism as a whole, etc., dictionary and so on and forth. I had a great mission to translate the word of God, His word in Sanskrit. What a responsibility? I stopped every Catholic activity and pastoral work which had filled my leisure time all those years of hard work, to consecrate myself on the Gita and meditation. Today, I am a satisfied man, but my work is not finished. It will never be finished. You will find my work on: http://www.geocities.com/hagurcomic/GitaBelgium.html I wanted to share all this with you. Thank you for reading, thank you for your prayers. For those interested, I made a small video, chanting the Gayatri Mantra in front o a newly oil painting of mine of the Lord Krishna for my meditation room. If your mailbox is large enough (1.45 MB), I will gladly mail it to you. Namaste, Philippe De Coster My email address: fb060913
