Guest guest
Chitta writes ...... " Ishwara is He who has absolute control over the universe. Aishwarya is the power of absolute control, and He who has aishwarya is Ishwara." Yes!!! Each and every word in this sentence is true ! Of course if you describe Ishwara as being full of AISHWARYA , we are moving away fro the realm of 'BRAHMAN' we do not want to open the *POORNAMIDAM' debate all over again, do we? Ishwara is *omnipotent*(ALL POWERFUL )! *omniscient* (ALL KNOWING ) and Omnipresent ( Time is of no consequence to Ishwara) To me , these are Words of Nectar. Amrita-vani. There are different levels of sadhaks present in this forum - Beginners and Advanced and all that are in between . Chitta , The idea of Ishwara being the supreme controller appeals to me a lot .... No, i do not believe for a moment , in pursueing ( Advaita philosophy), we have to ignore 'Ishwara' ..... yes! This ishwara is Sarvashakta - all powerful. Chitta writes : *Ishwara in Truth is the Creator. ............ "He is necessarily the Formless Being, the One who creates forms. It is we who cannot conceive a Formless Being that conceive of Him in terms of form, and that is how it may be said that Ishwara is Brahman seen through our mental conception, but in reality He is the One Formless Being.* The following lines come to mind "He who, dwelling in all things, Yet is other than all things, Whom all things do not know, Whose body all things are, Who controls all things from within- He is your Soul, the Inner Controller, The Immortal. " Chitta writes ... Is not Ishwara our highest mental conception of BrahmAn. ? Chitta - who controls your mind? Om kena ishitam patati preshitam manah? "By whom is the mind directed?" (Kena Upanishad, Mantra 1) We( the jivas) are not the director of this mind . It is 'Ishwara' ( you can call Him Siva, Vishnu or whoever)that controls this mind as well as the intellect. What do you think? AND Sri Krishna Paramatma says in BG ishwara sarva bhutanam hrideshe arjuna tishtati brahmayan sarva bhutani yantra rudhani mayaya 'I [Krisha] am the Supreme Controller who sits in the heart of all the living beings. These living beings themselves are riding inside a machine as soul, made up of material elements.' A verse from my favorite Svetasvatara Upanishad "The Supreme Lord appears as Isvara, omniscient and omnipotent and as the jiva, of limited knowledge and power, both unborn. But this does not deny the phenomenal universe; for there exists further the unborn prakriti, which creates the ideas of the enjoyer, enjoyment and the object. Atman is infinite and all—pervading and therefore devoid of agency. When the seeker knows all these three to be Brahman, he is freed from his fetters." (chapter 1, verse 9) AuM Shanti! AuM shanti! AuM Shantihi! Hari Aum Tat Sat !

AdiMa, those were not my words - I was only repeating a question. Nevertheless, your answer below is perfect: > Chitta - who controls your mind? > > Om kena ishitam patati preshitam manah? "By whom is the mind > directed?" (Kena Upanishad, Mantra 1) > > We( the jivas) are not the director of this mind . > It is 'Ishwara' ( you can call Him Siva, Vishnu or whoever)that > controls this mind as well as the intellect. What do you think? Thank you and warm regards, Chittaranjan
