Guest guest
Prabhu-ji! Saadar Pranaams! Hare Krishna! When i read this verse , i was ecstatic. Thank you , Prabhu-ji. (shivAya vishNu rUpAya shiva rUpAya vishNave shivasya hrudayaM vishNu vishNoscha hrudayaM shivaH yaTha shivamayO vishNurEvaM shivamayaH) In Skandopanishad , verse 13 reads rãparamahàmne svasti ciràyuùyonnama iti | viri¤canàràyaõa÷aïkaràtmakaü nçsiüha deve÷a tava prasàdataþ | acintyamavyaktamanantamavyayaü vedàtmakaü brahma nijaü vijànate || 13 Swami Sivananda's lucid explanation "Salutations to Siva of the form of Vishnu; and to Vishnu who is of the form of Siva! Siva's heart is Vishnu; and Vishnu's heart (real nature) is Siva. As Vishnu is Sivamaya, Siva is Vishnumaya. As I do not perceive any difference (between the two), so prosperity and long life are mine. The body is the Lord's temple; and Jiva is Siva alone. One should worship it with the idea of SOHAM (I am He or a feeling of identity), abandoning the flowers of ignorance which have outlived their utility. Jnana or knowledge is perception of non-difference. Dhyana or meditation is to extricate the mind from sense-objects. Snana or bath is the cleansing of the impurities of the mind. Controlling the senses is purity or Saucha. The nectar of Brahman is to be drunk; and for the preservation of the body, alms are to be accepted. One should live alone without a second, and dwell upon that Secondless Atman. That wise man who does all this attains salvation. Salutations to that Paramadhama! May prosperity and long life be mine! Om. Om Narasimha! O Lord of Devas! Through Thy Grace, one realises the true nature of Brahman, though beyond thought, unmanifest, endless and immutable, via, the forms of Gods: Brahma, Narayana and Sankara." (MAY I ADD aMBAAL, TOO?) Prabhuu-ji, AS you might be aware i was doing a pilgrimage of all the Temples in Tamil Nadu a couple of years back ! Believe it or not, i visited all the Shiva , Vishnu, Sakti , Vinayagar and Murugan temples - Being a 'smartha' iyer woman, i was able to enjoy the darshan of all the deities- no Exception ... In kanchi, when i was there , the guide told us there is Shiva Kanchi and Vishnu Kanchi. i was amused when i heard that ...When i visited the Ekambereshwera koil , where Lord shiva is worshipped in the form of 'prithvi' lingam, i was overcome with joy ! . And while i was in The Varadaraja perumal temple , i was overcome with 'paravasam' or ecstasy. and Of course, Kamakshi amman temple - that was altogether , an out of the world experience. The priest explained to us that the sri chakra enshrined in the temple's inner sanctum was installed by none other than Adi shanakara bHagwan himself. We visited Amman , Shiva temples, VishNu, Murugan and Pillaiyaar temples - whether it was Sri Ranganatha temple , or Ucchpillaiyaar Koivil Or Sri Madurai Meenakshi temple, i was able to enkjoy the 'divinity and beauty of the god/ess enshrined there ! i don't know if itis my 'smartha' upbringing but i know for a fact that being a 'smartha' has something to do with this! And Then the Visit to 'Thiruvannamalai ' ... Did you know that on that auspicious day, The head Priest offeredLord Arunachala's garlands to two persons in the congregation - One was a minister from Tamil nadu and the other one was little 'me' and then i realized for the firstb time 'Arunachala bhagwan is inviting me into his heart and his abode Thiruvannamalai '... and i promised to myself, i will go to Ramanashram one of these days and sit in the company of Sri Ramana Bhagwan ! Ii is Satsangati if you are sitting with one person and if that person has realized the 'Truth' - Yes! SriI Ramana Maharishi has not gone anywhere .... He is present where There is 'Truth' ! On another note, when i visit the the Siva-vishnu temple in Lanham, Md - i always face a dilemma - to whom should i do 'archana' - Balaji or to Ananta padmanabha swami ? To ayyappan or Andaal? To the shiva linga or Durga mata ? To Anjaneya perumal or Sita Rama ? or to sri Murugan with Valli and Devayani? or Lakshmi, Parvati or Saraswati? or even to Udupi Krishna? Then , i give up... I choose - LORD VINAYAKA AND THE REASON BEING, ONCE I PRAY TO Vigneshwera, all gods/goddesses wil be pleased. It works! Are we not lucky that we Hindus have so many gods/goddesses to choose from ? However i pray today to Sri LALITA MAHA TRIPURA SUNDARI who is described in Sri Lalita Sahasaranama as Nama Rupa Vivarjita ( 300) She Who Has No Name Or Form Gurudeva always said 'go beyond names and forms ; go deeper and deeper' THE Ocean is so deep ! i am just a small 'wave' Trying to Woo the 'OCEAN' ! Jai Gurudeva!
