Guest guest
Alakh Niranjan Nath-Sampradya started with Lord Shiva (Bhole-Nath) Initiating Lord Dattatreya (Sripad Nath) who in turn Initiated many Others. Matsyendranath/Matchindranath had got diksha when he was in the stomach of a fish (Matsya) when Shiva was instructing Datta. Matsyendra Nath then initiated GorakhNath who later became the foremost exponent of the Nath Philosophy. Gorakhnath was the one of the greatest tantrik the world has ever seen. Tantrik path has 2 modes, one is soumya and one is aghori. The somya use very mild mantras and tantras to evoke the various powers of Nature while the Vaam-panthi(aghori) do all sorts of 'forbidden' things like resorting to alcohol, drugs, sex, non veg food etc. Gorakhnath laid the foundation for the expansion of the Naths So every tantrik is not an "aghori'. GorakhNath had the knowledge of both these paths and he initiated disciples according to their attitudes. Tamasic were given aghori path while sattvic were given Soumya paths. Still the highest tantra in the Nath Philosophy is the Tantra of Raj-yoga (Vivekananda has written a book on it) and Kriya-Yoga (Lahari Mahashaya - Yukteshwar Giri - Paramhans Yogananda order) So even after all acquiring of the powers a Nath Yogi has to finally resort to the above two Tantras (methods) to attain Salvation. Nath Sampradaya infact includes all the Hindu Philosophies...some Nath sampradayis are Bhaktas like Gyaneshwar who set up the Warakari Sect in Maharashtra that worships Panduranga.some Naths worship Shiva, some Krishna...So you can see that Nath Sampradaya is actually all accepting. For a Nath-Yogi nothing is impossible in the universe for he experiences God through all angles as that of a Bhakta because Guru-Bhakti is the highest Bhakti in Naths, as Nature because Tantriks invoke the powers of Nature, as Alakh Niranjan - the foremost advaita principle, as Karma - Helping the needy is a vow that a Nath takes and all. Please do not mistake naths for Aghori Tantriks. Tantra literally means Technology or Method. Guest guest
Alakh Niranjan ! Ishaan-ji! You write : (Nath-Sampradya started with Lord Shiva (Bhole-Nath) Initiating Lord Dattatreya (Sripad Nath) who in turn Initiated many Others.) Yes, dear-heart! Bhole nath ? I would call our Bholenath , Adinath- For the Nath Sampradaya is a timeless lineage originating from OUR BELOVED LORD SHIVA , THE GREATEST OF ALL YOGIS , ADI NATH! You Write : ( Matsyendranath/Matchindranath had got diksha when he was in the stomach of a fish (Matsya) when Shiva was instructing Datta. Matsyendra Nath then > initiated GorakhNath who later became the foremost exponent of the Nath Philosophy.) May i also add that Lord Dattatreya is none other than lord shiva himself ? Yes, both Matsyendranath and Goraknath are Founders of this path ! There are 9 naths and 84 siddas in this sampradaya ( not to be discussed here) Yes, there are in fact three paths 1) Vamachara - who follow the pancha makara sadhana ( the left handed path) 2) Dakshinachara - who follow the right handed path and Samayachara - 'swantatntra' marg practiced by Acharya himself This is not the place to discuss Tantric' sadhana ! ( specially pancha makaras - but that sadhana is not for the fainthearted! ) anyway, why do you think the word 'aghori' is derogatory? Aghori just means Non-terrifying ! One of the names of Shiva is Aghori !Many images of Lors Shiva show the lord sky clad ( digambara) with the human skull as a begging bowl and meditating on corpses in cremation grounds ! Shava sadhana is supposed to be the most 'exalted' of all tantric sadhanas! Aghoris are very advanced tantriks ! It is not true that only all tamasic are given aghori path ! Only those in the 'vira' mode ( rajasic) can practice this type of pancha makara sadhana ! Aghora also means the path of illumination ! and i don't think all naths are aghoris or all aghoris are tantricks but i know for a fact that all tantricks are men of expanded consciousness ! That is what Tantra means ! Not the connotation it has gained in recent times in the west ! Tantra is not just a 'method' - it is a whole 'science' and art ! it combines all the Tattwas , the science of mantras, yantras etc...to gain enlightenment . Tantra also means the scripture by which the light of knowledge is spread: Tanyate vistaryate jnanam anemna iti tantram. THERE ARE ABOUT 64 TANTRAS -THEY ARE DIVIDED INTO AGAMAS AND NIGAMAS ! yOU SAY " NATH SAMPRADAYA IS ALL ACCEPTING" this is true of real tantricks too ! The Tantricks are 'all accepting too! do you know in the eyes of a real tantrik 'nothing is sinful; nothing is considered bad or evil' "? He has really transcended duality in the every sense of that word! Vamakshepa of bengal was also a great tantric master but he did some mysterious things ( like burning the idols of deities ) which terrified people! Here is KABIR POEM ON ALAKH NIRANJAN ! Translation Untainted Ram is Unmatched, Manifesting the Entire Tainted (Reality) Tainted are the Womb (of Creation) and the Om, The Tainted Demands All Expansiveness Tainted are Brahma, Shankra and Indra, Tainted is the Govinda along with his Gopis Tainted are the Spoken Words and Listening, Tainted has Created Innumerable Distinctions Tainted are Knowledge, the Daily Prayers and the Ancient Scriptures, Tainted is that Questioning and Reasoning Knowledge Tainted is the Leaf and Tainted are the Enlightened Beings, Tainted is the Served and Tainted is the Servant Tainted is the Singer and the Dancer, The Tainted Displays Endless Forms Where is the Limit, up to Which Tainted has Taken Hold? Even in Philanthropy, Purity, Austerities and Places of Pilgrimage, Tainted is Victorious Says Kabir Only a Very Rare, Exceptional One Awakens, Tainted has Left Endless Stains – Maalok (www. boloji.com)
