Guest guest
Dear Felipe : It is so nice to see you settling down in this great group among friends and family . I did not ignore your question regarding Veer-bhakth Hanuman ! (Adi-ji, i read most of the text in the links you presented me, and it stayed unclear to me if Hanuman was a monkey or not. I understood that he was "assigned" to protect the monkey king, but i believed that he was a human early on his life. What did i missed? ) i was waiting for a 'Tuesday ' to respond to your question - a day dedicated to the worship of Lord Hanuman! It is difficult for a devout Hindu specially a Rama--bhaktin like me to think of Lord Hanuman as a mere 'Monkey' ... It is true , Hanuman' s mother was 'Anjana' ( a female monkey ) and his father was none other than 'Vayu' ( the wind god) ! i guess, that makes Him a MONKEY GOD ! BUT, HANUMAN IS NOT jUST AN ORDINARY MONKEY ! Since He is the Son of Anjaneya , he is called 'Anjaneya' - THIS IS HOW HE IS WORSHIPPED IN SOUTH INDIAN TEMPLES! Aum Sri ANJANERYAYE NAMAHA! SINCE He is the son of Vayu or wind god , he is called Pavana Putra ! Aum Pavana Putrayaye Namaha ! There are many legends surrounding the Birth of Lord Hanuman ! I will direct you to some web sites where you can get information .... since i know you love to read everything first hand! http://www.exoticindia.com/article/hanuman - 135k - Cached http://Sanatansociety.org/indian_epics_and_stories/the_life_of_hanuman ..htm http://webonautics.com/mythology/hanuman.html - 12k - Cached -Enjoy the pictorial illustrations along with a description of Hanuman's entire life and his various exploits! On another note, How would you describe THE GREATEST BHAKTA of Lord Hanuman ? The very name 'Hanuman' means ONE WHO HAS CONQUERED HIS MIND ( MAN ( PRONOUNCED 'MUN' ) MEANS MIND AND HAN MEANS 'TO DESTROY) ! yes !Hanuman did not have a 'monlkey mind like some of us ! He was a 'siddha' who had all the Eight siddhis ; HE WAS maha yogi too ; Hanuman was the one who taught the 'Surya' namaskar ( his guru was none other than the sun god surya) and above all he was a master of vedas , a grammarian ( Sri Rama called him the ninth grammarian) and a talented musician! a CELIBATE BRAHMACHARI, TOO ! Felipe , my five year old grandson is simply fascinated with Lord Hanuman ! Whenever i visit him in Orlando, he only wants to hear about Hanumnan ! He says to me 'Patti ! i want to be strong and courageous like Hanuman 'and believe me , if one u recites the Hanuman chalisa ( 40 verses) composed by Tulsidas every tuesday, one can conquer fear , disease and all other problems in life ! One verse reads "Knowing myself to be ignorent, I urge you, O Hanuman, The son of Pavan! O Lord! kindly Bestow on me strength, wisdom and knowledge, removing all my miseries and blemishes." Read the entire 40 verses at http://www.pintograph.com/hanuman and Finally our beloved ADi shankara Bhagvadapada has also composed Hanuman Bhujangam - here is a verse "Disease, decay and other troubles weigh me down and give me sorrow. You are of indomitable valor, O compassionate one, grant me devotion to thy feet and love towards you. I salute Him who is generous, who is ever devoted to Sri Rama, whose deeds are great, who appears with a mace to his enemies, who is ever serene in attitude, the destroyer of darkness whose body is mighty. " Felipe! Guess what ! Sri Krishna says in the Srimad Bhagwat Gita ' the devotee of the devotee is dearer to me than the devotee himself' - that is , Felipe, by worshipping Hanuman ( a devotee of lord Rama-+ lord Krishna) you are moving one step nearer to Godhood! smile! Jai Ram Bhakth Hanuman ji ki !
