There is an intense sadness today even in our speech regarding Vedanta. We so easily lose sight of the Eternal (Sanatana) Dharma within which Vedanta arises as the supreme expression of Truth. If Oneness is evident, then there is no need for Vedanta. The very context of Vedanta is the field of action - it as the means to return from the prison of activity to the eternal beauty and bliss of Oneness. The Way of action is Dharma. The Way of returning is Vedanta. One is the path of Works, and the other is the path of Knowledge. The guiding light for our actions is dharma, not Vedanta. If we try to obtain the rules for our actions from Vedanta, it leads to cowardice and hypocrisy. Actions are governed by Dharma. This world is our karma bhumi, and dharma is the Oneness that inevitably exists beneath our actions. The Dharma Chakra of the Lord is nothing but the Lord ensuring Oneness in duality - across two points in Time.
