Guest guest
Namashkar Sri Krishnan-ji ! Alexander the great was a Megalomanic just like Nepaleon Bonaparte and He was ambitious. No doubt he came, he saw but did he conquer ? Rather, he died at the tender age of 32 after he contracted some 'illness' during his Indian Sojourn. i believe when Alexander became very ill during his stay in India, he met an Inian guru and after meeting the Guru, even the great Alexander was humbled ! The point is 'ALEXANDER' belongs to Histiry books But 'Advaita' is a day to day Reality ! Alexander is dead and gone; Napoleon met his waterloo; Hitler took his own life ; What about our Swami Vivekananda, the young Sanyasin who deliverd the famous Chicago ADDRESS ? Swamiji DIED AT THE YOUNG AGE OF 32 BUT He lives through his immortal teachings . Swamiji did not come to the WEST to 'convert' but he dazzled his audience so much with his articulate speech that his audience was mesmerized and overnight they were 'transformed' ... They started appreciate the meaning of 'sanatana dharma; - the universal religion! and as far being 'hospitable' to the Pope , that is also part of our Hindu Dharma - 'ATHITHI Devo Bhava' ( guests are like gods) but let me ask you this ? why is conversion taking place on such a large scale in the states you have mentioned ! How can people pray on an empty stomach ? Religion is the opium of the masses said Karl Marx . UNDER THE PRETEXT OF 'UNTOUCHABILITY' , HINDUS HAVE ABUSED THEIR OWN BROTHERS AND SISTERS FOR CENTURIES - in fact , the pariahs were not even allowed to enter the temples ! DO YOU REMEMBER nANDANAR CHARITHAM ? iT WAS LEFT TO GREAT ADVAITIC GURU LIKE NARAYANA GURU who saved the 'ezhava' community from total degradation ! The untouchables were denied rights to higher education and better jobs .What difference does it make to them if they are hindus or christians or for that matter totally irreligious ? Mahatma Gandhiji said "The untouchability of Hinduism is probably worse than that of the modern imperialists. " so, we are to be blamed if Large scale conversions are taking place ! If we cannot treat our own people with respect and dignity , how do you expect them to be loyal to a religion which only gives them suffering ? Answer me, Krishna-ji please do not quote scriptures and talk to me about Varnashrama dharma ! we Indians have left India and come abroad in pursuit of higher learning and better job opportunities but those left behind are still suffering because Religion has been contaminated by politics and poltics has contaminated Relgion ! IN FACT, THE HIGHER CLASSES IN INDIA ARE GETTING A TASTE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE! Krishna-ji, Khalil Gibran says YOU HAVE YOUR THOUGHTS AND I HAVE MINE " Your thought advocates Judaism, Brahmanism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. In my thought there is only one universal religion, whose varied paths are but the fingers of the loving hand of the Supreme Being." You have your thought and I have mine. "Your thought holds that the glory of the nations is in their heroes. It sings the praises of Rameses, Alexander, Caesar, Hannibal, and Napoleon. But mine claims that the real heroes are Confucius, Lao- Tse, Socrates, Plato, Abi Taleb, El Gazali, Jalal Ed-din-el Roumy, Copernicus, and Pasteur." " Your thought sees power in armies, cannons, battleships, submarines, aeroplanes, and poison gas. But mine asserts that power lies in reason, resolution, and truth. " KRISHNA-JI, be a sport! Help me with this month's topic - let us use our 'jnana' to talk about Bhakti and not 'dirty' politics! love and regards
Guest guest
Respected Adi-Shaktiji and friends, Namaste. While these arguments aren't adding any value to this group, I couldn't help but type in this reply. > why is conversion taking place on such a large scale in the states > you have mentioned ! How can people pray on an empty stomach ? > Religion is the opium of the masses said Karl Marx . Conversion doesn't end poverty. Religion didn't create poverty. Till the 18th century, there wasn't much povety in India. > UNDER THE PRETEXT OF 'UNTOUCHABILITY' , HINDUS HAVE ABUSED THEIR OWN > BROTHERS AND SISTERS FOR CENTURIES - Many of the people who fought for the downtrodden were from the forward classes. We have realized our mistakes. We have applied corrections. In a civilization spanning several thousands of years, it is natural that rot sets in. The fact that the same has been recognized and corrected speaks well for the Indian society. There is no need for self-flagellation now. > IN FACT, THE HIGHER CLASSES IN INDIA ARE GETTING A TASTE OF > THEIR OWN MEDICINE! I wonder madam, are you glad that you escaped tasting this medicine :-) But seriously, sincere, hardworking people are doing quite OK here in India. No offence intended. Best regards, Ramachandra
Guest guest
Hello! My Friend! " Conversion doesn't end poverty. Religion didn't create poverty. " True 'religion' did not create poverty ; men, in the name of religion, created poverty by keeping the 'poor' poor and the 'rich' richer by denying them equal opportunities in the name of 'varnashrama dharma' ! Varnashrama dharama was ok. when it was practiced in the right way - but in the hands of religious bigots, it became an instrument of abuse ! Till the 18th century, there wasn't much povety in India. Yes! Our Matrubhumi was The treasure house of bith material and spiritual wealth . Have you read President Kalam's speech ? Yes, We are not that 'poor' any more but the 'inequalities' still remain ... you just need to go the streets of BOBBAY AND CALCUTTA - the hungry and the homeless are still veru much a naked 'reality' you write: Many of the people who fought for the downtrodden were from the forward classes. and they should ! Why not ? IT IS ALWAYS GOOD TO HAVE A CONSCIENCE ! YOU RESPOND (IN FACT, THE HIGHER CLASSES IN INDIA ARE GETTING A TASTE OF > > THEIR OWN MEDICINE! ) > > I wonder madam, are you glad that you escaped tasting this medicine :-) DID YOU KNOW RAMACHANDRA , LEFT TO ME I WOULD HAVE NEVER COME TO THE U.S.A - i was the first woman candidate who made it to the 'indian eeconomic service' ( an equivalent of IAS ) AND HAD TO QUIT BECAUSE I got married ! AT THE TIME OF LEAVING iNDIA , i was aready earning a great salary as a research associate in a top firm but came to U.S.A AS PART OF MY MARRIAGE PACKAGE ! and then what happened ? i lost my husband at the tender age of 35 with three kids all teens and struggled hard to bring them up in a foreign country with no family to support ! and who carried me on his shoulders ! Krishna and my Undying Faith! IN U.S.A - I EXPERIENVCCED 'DISCRIMINATION' which is as bad as 'untouchability' but i did get a taste of my own medicine ( i remembered then how as brahmins my ancestors treated the servant community ) - My grandma would ask me to take a 'bath' every time i played witn the servant girl in the house ! yOU ARE RIGHT , HARD WORKING PEOPLE WILL DO WELL ANYWHERE ! BUT THERE IS THE 'OPPORTUNITY' FACTOR ALSO ! my nephews and niece are migrating to U.S.A ON A LARGE SVALE BECAUSE THEY FIND 'JAYALALITHA'S' GOVT too anti-brahmanical ! I MAY BE WRONG AFTER ALL ALL THIS IS HERESAY ! WHO IS TO OFFEND WHOM? THERE IS NO 'OTHER' Yastu Shudro dame satye dharme cha satatotthitah / tam brahmanamaham manye vritten hi bhavet dvijah // – Mahabharata, Vanaparva, Ch 216, vs 14-15. It means: That shudra who is ever engaged in self-control, truth and righteousness, I regard him a brahmin. One is a twice-born by conduct alone. ADI SHANKARA BHAGVADAPADA reiterates his advaita philosophy, but in his very first verse he says that a person who knows the Supreme, whether he is a Chandala or a twice-born, is a guru for him. Chandaloastu sa tu dvijoastu gururityesha manisha mama BUT,ramachandra-ji, in my motherland , i am a 'crorepathi'( both materially and spiritually) but here i am still working at age 63 just to keep me going ! But guess what, i am still a crorepathi because When you have 'ISHWERA 'in your heart, you are always full of AISHWERYA! love and regards
