Guest guest
I fully agree with Mr.Tony reg this .We have to use our limited span of life for more fruitful discussins. Very many thanks to group members for bringing out many useful aspects of advaita.- gjanardanannair- General Note from List Moderators: we are glad to see the expressed concerns by several members. Thanks for expressing your concerns. The moderators request the general members to refrain from discussing materials that are beyond the scope of the list. Also as noted by this member, the list will be better off by focusing on the subject matter of advaita instead of arguing and advocating their personal theories. If we are not able to agree with the world views of some of the saints and philosophers, let us brush aside all our personal passions and biases and try to orient the topic to the essence. Further, it would be more relevant, if we could be somewhat meditative in articulating our views. As pointed out in this forum, Advaita is not the domain of any nation or religion, but constitutes something beyond time and space. If our essential nature is the Self, we must ponder as to why we find ourselves in the present predicament, and try to arrive at what is that we are seeking in this world, that keeps us chained to this samsara. We are intellectually conversant with the factors that keep us tied down to this phenomenal world; but it does not help us. If we say it is our karma, then it makes us to take time to eliminate it, which itself is apriori a karma. So how can we penetrate this avidya without examining its relative manifestations, and seeking their causation which leads us to an infinite regressus. Some basic fundamental question, which does not have any answer, has to be raised. It may be, "who am I", or anything else. I think that karma is not individualistic, but collective. A perception of the whole only can make us so much as understand our problem at a non-verbal level. At that level we would not try to solve any problem, unless it is empirical, because, we will have known that the problem is traceable to the essence of individuality. If Nisargdatta and Krishnamurthy have been able to realize the truth, then, surely, it is possible for all of us, perhaps not in the way in we think that avidya would make us believe.
