Guest guest
Dear all: I thank Moderators for allowing me to post this message which is so which is not directly related to the objectives of this list. However, this does have a bearing to this months discussion of "bhakti and j~naana". I am changing the thread to "bhakti and aj~naana", What I have to share in this post is really "beyond shocking" by any standards and should be classified as gross aj~naana and exploitation of "Blind Faith" and endangering the health of innocent bhakata-jana. Please click the link below and read the news item that a largest Parad (Mercury) Shivalinga in the world has been created at Siddha Ashram, Ujjain, India. http://www.prweb.com/releases/2005/11/prweb305921.htm QUOTE "Parad is the best of all the metals and jewels and a lingam of Lord Shiva made of the best of all the metals should without doubt defy any parallel. Siddha Ashram will provide you a purposeful opportunity to have a darshan, a touch and worship of Shri Paradeshwar Mahadev." UNQUOTE It is clear from the above quotation that devotees will certainly be exposed to mercury. Mercury exposure is a huge problem and a major concern for the industrialized Nations and rather than learning from the scientific findings we are deliberately ignoring it by promoting this nonsense, under the banner of culture. Apparently, the religious leaders do not realize the toxicity of mercury. Therefore I do not know what to call this but the "Blind Faith"? Exposure to mercury can lead to chronic overgrowth of Candida, bloody seaman, genetic defects, ADD, ADHD, and thus may affect the quality of life. Even a brief exposure to mercury gives nausea and headache. Just do a Pub-Med Search and/or Goggle search and find out the associated problems. Indian Government should totally ban such nonsense but this can become a very sensitive issue. Worshiping in the atmosphere of mercury the saadhaaka would not only reduce his life span but quality of living or even a possible normal health. In my opinion as a scientist this is nothing more than creating hell on the Earth. This inviting "a-Laxmi", the older sister of Laxmi. No one can save us if we have decided to destroy ourselves. Some of the relevant links that document the toxicity of mercury are given below for your convenience. http://content.karger.com/ProdukteDB/produkte.asp? The vowel "i" is the ishvar tattva that keep us alive. If we take the "i" from the word "shava" than all that is left is "shava", the dead body. Saint Ramdas says in manobodha, (Advise to one's own mind): avidyaaguNe.n maanavaa Umajenaa . bhrame.n cuukale.n hiita te.n aakaLenaa . ... manobodha 143 .. Meaning – Due to the "avidyaa" we humans cannot recognize and the illusion prevents us from following the path that may be good for us. vidhii nirmitaa.n liihito sarva bhaaLii.n | parii liihitaa koNa tyaace kapoLii.n || haru jaaLato loka sa.mvhaarakaaLii.n | parii sevaTii.n sha.nkaraa koNa jaaLii || manobodha 175 || Meaning – Lord brhamaa write everyones fate but who writes his fate? "haru" (meaning sh.nkara) burns our body after our body dies, but who is going to burn the "Lord Shankar" ? Looks like that the answer for Ramasaswami's unanswered question from Manobodh is "us", the human beings themselves !! May the Lord Shiva give the wisdom to the so called bhakta before the manifestation of ruudra that will destroy us. I urge respected members of this list to take up this as aj~naana that is going to manifest itself as a health/environmental issue. Thank you for reading and understanding and acting proactively accordingly, hopefully to correct the situation. Let knowledge be the real guide for our conscious, that is why aacaarya recommended the j~naanamaarga for liberation rather than trying to promote mystique miracles. hariH Om tat sat, Dr. Yadu

(I have long since left that particular Guru.) There was a temple not far away, where the Siva Priests had made solid lingams from mercury. Some were sold on the Ashram. I never did understand why????????..ONS..Tony.

From Sankarraman There are many more superstitions taking place in the name of Bakthi, which the many false gurus trick the gullible masses into believing. Real seekers have to be wary whether these gurus are bolstering up their egos hankering after recogintion by the society, but are authentic godmen. No really realized man resorts these cheap tricks as a way to the path of religion saying that it is the starting point. If the foundation is weak, the edifice is bound to be weak, the people clamouring for miracles remaining at that leve till the end of their lives. It is better to read the scriptures on advaitha and pray Iswara, rather than hunting for these miracle-mongers who in their turn hunt after gullible individuals, this constituting a mutual exploitation.
