Guest guest
Sri Ram-ji comments : ( Let me join Sri Chittha to congratulate you for making the statement of the day!) Thank you, kindly sir! Then, Sri Ramji goes on to add ( In everyone of your recent posts, you have made some excellent observations along with bunch of unnecessary and unrelated materials that have nothing to do with your point of contention. If need to drink a glass of milk, we will not dilute the milk with a bottle of water. ) Yes, You are ABSOLUTELY correct. i do have a tendency to go off at a tangent. one of the 'eccentricities' of a bhakta mind! smile ! Thanx anyway for your constructive criticism. You have, however, brought up a very interesting point- This is called 'Ninda Sthuti' - That of praising someone by also criticizing that person! This technique was very effectively employed in Bhakti Literature . Saint Thyagarajar, the great composer of Karnatic music , in one of his kritis(MAnamu LEDHA)addresses Sri Ramachandra Bhagwan thus : O Father of Lava and Kusa! Don't you have any shame? Do not you have any affection for me as one belonging to You? It is rare to see some one like you, who have no attachment and who are hard hearted. Goda Devi( also known as Andaal)complains to her friends about her beloved (SRI RANGANATHAR)in His Krishna Avatar thus : "In the Brindavan he gathered into his arms one cowherdess and condemned another to the sorrow of disappointment. His partiality towards Radha is well known. Why should he thus torture us all the time?" You will note that Andaal is criticizing Sri Krishna in public but in private She pines for the very vision of her Lord ! Just some thoughts! Our beloved Professor VKji has mentioned about 'Ninda Sthuthi' in Paramacharya's Discourses on Soundaryalahari (DPDS-46) (i think) with regards
Guest guest
Namaste Sri Adimaji: Thanks for another thought provoking observation from you. In life we do play multiple roles at the same time. In the list, I do play the role as a member and I also play the role as a moderator of the list. As a member, I admire your enthusiasm, devotion and the messages with filled with Bhakti. But as a moderator of the list, my responsibility calls me to provide my observations on the posted message. Though it may appear as a `Ninda Sthuti,' it is only an illusion! During my childhood, my grandmother used to recite this Tamil Prayer: "ullondru vaithu puram ondru pesuvaar uravu kalavaamai vendum," and ask me and brothers to repeat this at least once every day. Here is an approximate translation of this verse – "Avoid contact with those who speak outwardly using words but inwardly curse you" Actually, what my grandmother expected from me was not to praise someone outwardly and within inside think ill of that person. Since I greatly value her advice, I do try my level best to not to commit that offense. I hope that I explained my position. Guest guest
Dearest Sri Ramji: I believe what you are telling Sri Adimaji is that you express the way you feel in an honest way without any malice towards anyone. We all know that and love and respect you for that. I think Adiji is the same way as well. I can say that about all members here. We are in the presence of great souls. There are bound to be a few differences here and there among friends. What are friends for? :-). Love and respect for all Harsha Ram Chandran wrote: > Namaste Sri Adimaji: > > Thanks for another thought provoking observation from you. In life we > do play multiple roles at the same time.
