Moderators' Recommendation on Discussion of Topics such as "Caste and Advaita"

Satsanghis

 

The moderators discussed the advisability of continuing this debate

online. We came to the conclusion that it would be best pursued

offline among the participants interested in the matter. I've

included all of you I know of in the "To:" field of this message.

Please feel free to invite any others to the discussion. You may

include me as well, though I might not have time to participate

actively.

 

If the discussion produces the kind of consensus that everyone thinks

would benefit the advaitin membership at large, and if someone writes

it up in summary form, then we will be only too glad to post your

findings in the Files section of the site. We can then inform the

members that this is there as a resource.

 

The position of Shankaran advaita vedanta on the caste issue is a

question that has been debated many times before. I think that a well

reasoned, well-supported consensus view would be very very helpful to

newcomers to this immortal Teaching!
