Guest guest
Hello everyone, At the outset, here's wishing a very happy new year to all. I wish to share my experience of driving my humble Maruti 800. Being a new driver at the ripe age of 35, and no track of two-wheelers (a given for my generation), I have been a hesitant driver till date. Despite the customary crash course, I also went for additional training from a seasoned hand. But my confidence refused to change gears and was at best neutral.I just could not enjoy my drive despite a fairly good steering control. On two occasions, I caused two minor bumps at the rear end (both incidents took place at the same time on saturdays after the diya ritual that I perform at hanuman temple. This ritual is special to me as I began it since my mom was unwell and am continuing even after her demise). This state continued till a friend suggested performing dhoop/agarbati ritual from the bottom of my heart to the Lord in the form of the Ganesh idol and the Hanuman photograph facing me at the wheel. The very feeling of leaving myself in His hands created in me a feeling beyond words. The ego that I am driving and am responsible for the safety of my family is past me. I see the road much better, glance at the mirrors naturally and automatically turn slow at every turn. I also feel one with the car and the more I think of it, the more spirtual the drive seems. Even today, I feel butterflies in my tummy but only till enter the car. More importantly, I have seen a dramatic decline in the morbid thoughts associated with the drive. And the car is part and parcel of my being. It's no longer an inanimate object. I just want this state to continue without any sense of pride whatsoever. I seek the blessings of this forum and insights that any of you would like to provide in this respect. kuntimaddi sadananda <kuntimaddisada wrote: Rajeshji Thanks for your kind words. What you say is right but what I think is we can change the world only by changing first ourselves. As Krishna is going to teach us in the next post- yadyadaacharti shreshhTaH ... we need to follow the vedic dharma. The children will learn from what the parents do. Gandhiji became mahaatma because he taught by practicing himself first. Once I change the world will also slowly change. Let us do our saadhana sincerely and by setting ourselves as an example try to change the environment we are in - and leave the rest to Him to worry about. Thanks again, you helped me to reformulate the karmayoga series. Hari OM! Sadananda --- Rajesh Ramachander <rrajeshchander wrote: > Namastey Shree Sadananda Ji: > > > Thank you Sir. Guest guest
--- sudhir raikar <comrade_suds Sudhirji - What more insights do you need? You already have Shree Hanuman and Shree Ganesha by your side helping you to drive. Let them help you to drive your whole life. Let us recognize that driving on the roads is a previlage. I am scared to walk on the streets of chennai since car, auto and two-wheelers each think they have the right of way - leaving the pedestrians on the road side. If we can see Lord Hanuman and Ganesha helping others on the road too, we will definitely be very good drivers. Hari OM! Sadananda
Guest guest
Dear Sudhirji, I share your thoughts about invoking God when in imminent physical danger. I have experienced such moments on difficult treks in mountaineous terrains when one's ego leaves one completely and one feels totally powerless against the forces of nature. The thought that 'My Lord will protect me' is very welcome under those conditions. The sad part of the story is that one does not remember God so fervently while sitting in the comfort of one's house, in the lap of luxuries! Pranams to all advaitins and a happy new year!- Ravi Shivde
