My name is Kaumadi. 31 years of age. Live in U.S.

I have a great interest for the Santaan Dharm.

I am very eager to learn more about Advaitin philosphy.

Educational Background:

BA in Religious Studies from the University of California at Santa

Barbara. MA & PhD in Indian Religion and Philosophy from the University of

Madras. My speciality is Hinduism in general and especially Advaita

Vedanta with a particular interest in Sureshvara.

 

Other interests include:

Classical Indian philosophy; Ganesha; Ramayana; Hari Katha;

Religious Language; Ancient Indian Education (Gurukula); and the

Vivekacudamani / Crest Jewel of Discrimination of Shankaracharya.

Thank you for enabling me to be a member of this group. My name is John Grimes and I

did my BA mainly under Raimundo Panikkar at UCSB and my MA and PhD under TMP

Mahadevan, R. Balasubramanian, and PK Sundaram at the Radhakrishnan Institute for

Advanced Study in Philosophy at the University of Madras. I have written a number of books

on Advaita including a recent translation of Shankara's Vivekacudamani (Ashgate and Motilal

Banarsidass). At the University of Madras my professors had a special fascination for the

Vivarana school of Advaita and especially Suresvara. I look forward to following the

discussions of the group.

Bhagavaan Ramanuja's purvapaxa on the ignorance aspect of advatia vedanta.
