Guest guest
Namaste All; I had some thoughts brewing in the back of my mind, that now, in light of some recent posts, have become clear enough to write about. It all grew too lengthy and in opposite directions, so i decided to break it up in two posts... Just to make matters clear, i shall reference the posts that led me to this particular chain of thoughts. At the risk of looking egotistical (please, certainly not my intention), i will reference my two last articles, just so i can establish clearly the grounds on which i am settled. Ref. posts: 1) 29612 2) 29703 3) 30030 4) 30114 In this particular order, each post is tied together by its follower (even though with my posts it all just happened accidentally). This is the same case for the particular post i am writing now, attempting to tie up matters in light of my own interpretation of them. Needless to say that this is just my opinion and views, as i am writing all this in a speculative manner, outside looking in. Having established that the central issue, prior to doer-ship (since doing implies having received an input motivating the apparent individual to do so), seems to lurk around the mis-conception "i am seeing, therefore i am the seer", one set of possibilities seems to arise. As one that reads a warning "caution, wet floor" gets mindful of each step, so i believe that after each millimetrical correction on a skewed perspective one might inch closer to the truth. Therefore, in a sense, all our quest can be ordered time-wise in a set of warnings, that even though never showing a complete picture, allways advises us where we ought not look. The first impression i get, as of now, is that the ego is built upon the notion "i am seeing, therefore i am the seer". I am not, by any means, trying to impose a view on such important matters, and the fact is that i may be very well saying something that might have been said countless times before, but the fact also is that i can see some order in this chaos now, as regards the birth of the ego (and hope that in finding its birthplace i should also find its birth-giver). In the BrAhma SutrAs, Antaradhikaranam: Topic 4, sutra I.2.13 (44) it is said: "The person within the eye is Brahman"; So, how does one super-impose the notion that the ego is the seer on the supreme truth? My understanding is that mind itself gets erected upon this very mis-conception. And this, in my view, happens on the account of a slight difference of perception, initially, between reality (as in pure consciousness) and our own BMI complex. Given that consciousness itself is responsible for all "seeing" and "seen", and that its very eye is within, the only understanding i can make of this is that upon being falsely conscious of consciousness, one instance of "delay in processing" is added to the whole picture, as in the situation that when one puts on a pair of shades, one apparently sees a darker sun. Chronologically (i am speaking strictly from the sadhak point of view) some order seems to have been found. Given that now there is a delay in processing consciousness, due to the super-imposition of an illusory consciousness, that spawns as a fragment of self-awareness (which makes it not entirely negative), individual perception of consciousness (as appearing) could be deemed to be slightly off-beat, or out of phase, with pure consciousness, awareness in itself. Just as a singer that is slightly out of tune jumps over the whole ensemble, instantly drawing all attention to itself, so our perception of individual consciousness gets drawn into the resulting beat between the wave of pure-consciousness and that of the super-imposed one. With waves in general, beating is the name of the phenomenon that explains what happens when almost identical waves are very closely (in time, meaning phase) super-imposed, and the result is an almost tactile feel between their relation, much stronger than if they were evenly spaced (though quite unpleasant), or for that matter, even in perfect unison (more powerful, but subtler, given that its all-pleasing nature does not draws particular attention to itself). Given that both our apparent consciousness and pure-consciousness itself are composed of the very same fabric (of infinite power and strength), only delayed by an infinitely small instance of time, the effect of beating is at its infinite maximum, drawing infinite attention and being infinitely disturbing. In the infinitely disturbing difference of phase between perceived and pure consciousness, dwells the ego. Having attracted all attention towards itself, mind gets built, ever super-imposing concepts over itself (now dialectics come in), chains of thoughts etc. Like a skyscraper, mind tends to erect itself away from the single truth that has spawned it. And the solid ground that gives mind its foundation to be built upon is the infinite power resulting between the beating of our perceived consciousness, or conscience of awareness, and consciousness (or awareness) itself. This could very well explain the absurd power of the ego to the individual, and the individuals insignificance to existence itself. Being composed of the very same fabric of existence, the ego could simply be said to be a slightly delayed perception of consciousness from consciousness itself, hence the illusory character of reality as perceived by us ignorants. Methods, corrections, further discussion, are all welcome - and requested {)). My warmest regards... _____ doce lar.
