Guest guest
Chitta : Thank you so much for all the three posts on Lord Shiva on this auspicious day. Yes , Bholenath is a great actor !Lingeshwera puts on five faces- panchanana or pancha-bhuta.! The five faces of MAHESHWERA stand for five elements and thereby for the entire creation. This Panch-mukha Shankara Bhagwan 'Tatpurusha', Vamadeva, Aghora, Sadyojata and Ishan representing respectively wind, water, fire, creative function, and space. Yes! Thus, Kailashanath's five heads manifest five cosmic elements and functions. It gives me great plesure to recall this verse from Sri Manikavachagar's Thiruvachkam! UMA DEVI IS STOTRA PRIYA ( SHE LOVES IT WHEN DEVOTEES PRAISE HER) ; SO is Uma-pati , her Lord and master! potri in tamil means 'praise' Isan adi potri enDai adi potri Tesan adi potri sivan sevadi potri Neyatthe nindra nimalan adi potri Maayappirappu arukkum mannan adi potri Seeraar perunthurai nam tevan adi potri Aaraatha inbam aruLum malai potri. Salutations to the Feet of the Lord! Salutations to the Feet of our Father! Salutations to the Feet of the Resplendent One! Salutations to the ruddy Feet of Lord Siva ! Salutations to the Feet of the Unblemished One, who lies anchored in the love of His devotee ! Salutations to the Feet of the Lord Who Cuts asunder the cycle of births full of evil strife ! Salutations to the Feet of our Lord Who resides in this most beautiful Tirupperunturai ! as a dancer, i love Lord NATARAJA'S FEET- every dancer worships the lord of Chidambaram for those who takes refuge under His lotus feet there is only 'ANANDAM' - Many people differentiate between Shaivism and Advaita !They call shaivism 'siddantha' and Advaita 'vedanta ' but when you worship shiva as Ishwera in advaita we get 'shaivAdvaita' ! our most respected Sri Ramana Maharishi himself , the Mother of all advaitic Gurus, worships Arunachaleshwera !" Arunachala is Shiva Himself. . Sri Bhagavan used to say, "Kailasa is the abode of Shiva; Arunachala is Shiva Himself. Even in Kailasa things are as they are with us here. Devotees go to Shiva, worship Him, serve Him, and hear from him the interpretation of the Vedas and Vedanta day in and day out." So it was Kailasa at the foot of the Arunachala Hill, and Arunachala Paramatma in human form was Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi." T.K. Sundaresa Iyer (http://www.cosmicharmony.com/Sp/Ramana/Ramana.htm) Advaitacharya Shri ADI SHANKARA BHAGVADAPADA himself equates Shiva WITH THE SELF ! otherwise, why would he sing in ATMA SHATAKAM (also known as Nirvana Shatakam) Aham Nirvikalpo Niraakaara Roopaha Vibhur Vyaapya Sarvatra Sarvendriyaanaam Sadaa Me Samatvam Na Muktir Na Bandhah Chidaananda Roopah Shivoham Shivoham I am devoid of dualities, and I am formless, I exist everywhere, pervading all the senses, always I am the same, I have neither freedom nor bondage, I am pure Knowledge and Bliss, I am Auspiciousness, I am Shiva. Yes ! SHIVA-HOOD IS SELF HOOD! Shiva-jnanam is atma-jnanam! In all Shankara mutts, they worship Chandramouleeshwera along with the divine mother sri Tripurasundari!! Shri ADI SHANKARA BHAGVADAPADA sings in Annapurnashtakam MATA CHA PARVATI DEVI PITA DEVO MAHESHWARA BANDHAVA SHIVA BHAKTAHA SWADESHO BHUVANATRAYAM Mother is shakti, father is shiva, relatives are the devotees of shiva and own country is all the three worlds. On this auspicious night of Maha-shiva Ratri, . may Lord shiva show 'light' for it is shiva who can remove all darkness including a 'moonless' night! such is his glory and splendor! Jaya Jaya Shankara Hara Hara Shankara Jaya Jaya Mahadeva Hara Hara Mahadeva PS - On another note, chitta , our Michael-ji might say on this interesting thread 'logos and mythos' that there is an old quarrel between 'poetry and philosophy ' ( the Republic) but all our Hindu saints love to use poetry as a medium to explain great philosophies! our beloved Adi shankara bhagavapada was a great poet-philosopher ! ALL his poems (stotras) are full of eternal wisdom/knowledge ! They are not just rehetoric! smile! advaitin, "Chittaranjan Naik" <chittaranjan_naik wrote: > > > Om Namah Shivaya >
