Junk Mails

Namaste Moderators,

 

For the last few days i have been receiving junk mails from an email id:

 

narayana145

 

This person is sending the mails with an attachment purported to contain

photos. However, i have not opened any of them and am deleting them as and when

they arrive in my mail box. The Subject head contains the ones that appear on

the List for my Posts. Is it possible to track down the sender of these mails

from the Master List of members of this List? I find from Sri Sada ji's post

that i am not alone in facing this menace. Is there a solution for this?

The email ID that you have referred Narayana145 (AT) (DOT) .. is a member

of advaitin list. It is a matter of fact that 'Junk' email is not

coming to you from the advaitin list but it is coming directly from

the email address. I am almost certain, that the cause of these junk

mails originate from a 'virus' infected computer. It is possible

either your computer or the computer of the sender is infected with a

virus and the emails are generated without the knowledge of the

sender. Honestly, the list has no control over this problem - the

list is certainly the 'NonDoer.'

 

It seems that when we join mailing lists and send/receive emails,

there is potential for getting 'Junk' emails due to virus or due to

occasional other problems. Being a moderator of this list, I receive

lot more junk mails (not necessarily due to virus infection) and I

just delete them. I also have a 'spam blocker' which helps me to

filter junk emails. Those of us who engage in Internet

communications do need to protect our computers by installing

firewall, antivirus, spamblocker and antispy as per our need. In

spite of all these protections, there is no guarantee that we will be

free from any of these problems! This is part of the effect due to a

spell of 'mAyA!'

Note: If you access the list archive, you will notice that none of

those 'Junk' emails appear in the messages received by the list!
