The question arose thus: Last night a friend called me and asked: What is Advaita-vajra-panjara? I am reading Sri Venkatanathan's commentary for the Bhagavadgita for the verse 'Mamaivamsho jivaloke jivabhutaH sanaatanaH' of the fifteenth chapter. After saying 'amsha iva amshaH' (as though a part), the commentator says: 'vistarastu advaita-vajra-panjare drashtavyaH'= the details can be seen in..... As i had not heard of such a work, a request was made on the List. (Note: Sri Venkatanathan, himself a visishtadvaitin, has written a very detailed commentary for the Gita on the lines of Advaita.) I understand that this Sri Venkatanatha is the Guru of Sri Dharmaraja Adhvarindra, the author of the Vedanta Paribhasha. He mentions this name in his mangalasloka no. 3, referring to Sri Venkatanatha as a resident of Velaangudi. This person cannot be Sri Vedanta Deshika. When i get some more information about the author in question, i shall pass on the same to you. Regards, subbu > _______________ > Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
