Guest guest
H.N.Sreenivasa Murthy Namaskarams to the members. The subject matter is being discussed in detail raising the cloud of arguements and counter-arguements. In this connection I would like to quote two verses , one from Bhagavadgita and another one from Mundakopanishat. a) nAsatO vidyatE BAvO nABAvO vidyatE sataH | uBayOrapi dRShTOntastvanayOstattvadarSiBiH || BG. 2-16 b) BidyatE hRudayagranthiH CidyantE sarvasaMSayAH | kShIyantE cAsya karmANi tasmin dRShTE parAvarE || Mundaka Upa. 2-2-9 The first verse clearly states that ONLY tatvadarshis have the capacity and capability of deciding what is sat and asat. Sri shankara , in his commentary to the above verse, writes: "EvaM AtmAnAtmanOH sadasatOH uBayOrapi dRShTaH upalabdhaH antaH niraNayaH 'sat sadEva, asat asadEva' iti tu anayOH yathOktayOH tattvadarSiBiH ||" The last line of the second verse declares that only when that parAvara is realized , cognized, comprehended, there will be an end to all the doubts, there will be an end to arguements and counter-arguements.Sri Shankara in his commentary to this mantra writes: "tasmin sarvaj~JE asaMsAriNi parAvarE paraM ca kAraNAtmanA avaraM ca kAryAtmanA tasmin parAvarE sAkShAt ' ahamasmi' iti dRshTE samsArakAraNOcChEdAt mucyatE ityarthaH ||"Brahman or our true nature This means that all our endeavours and efforts should be directed towards realizing that Brahman which is our true nature so that we will understand the true import of these words. Let us heed to the clarion call of the Sages and first and foremost attain Atmaj~JAna. Then only the Upanishad mantras reveal their meaning to us. I request the members who are mumukshus to look in that direction.
