Guest guest
JAI GURUDEV Hi all, I've got my hand dirty with code. The new website would be driven by XML and ASP. I also considered using an access db for faster query based searching, but due to the proposed hugeness, I decided to make it using XML. Technically, there would be two sections: (a) Public (b) Author (a) Public: This is what the world would see. It would contain: 1. Headlines of latest stuff from every section (yet to be decided). 2. Briefs from current section linked to complete article/post. 3. Glossaries: We would define glossary terms in the Author section and every article, before getting displayed, would be scanned for these terms; if found, that term would be linked to it's definition. (b) Author: This section would be password protected. Everyone, willing to contribute, would be assigned a username and password. The author, after logging into his/her account, would be able to post. I am also working on edit/delete options. The post would then be saved as an XML file using the FileSystemObject and be shown in the Public section instantly. As Birendra suggested, the site can span through multiple accounts. But Brinkster allows only one account per person, so we all have to create accounts. Arvind, I need a vote on this point too. Are we going to make a website bigger than 30 megs? Please note, we can't put audio/video/zip/pdf etc. Brinkster doesn't allow these.
