some anti virus/hacking stuffs

Okay i am honoured to do a gurusewa over here though this

posting isn't about spritualism or mty. I read about Anu didi's problem and i

felt that u people should know a little more about virus, trojans and their

protection. The field of computer is very vast and this is certainly

insufficient but these are all according to my own experience as i had a craze

to become a hacker..though i am not i have learnt quite a few things that i

think everyone should know.

many people fear from the word virus and mostly worms, trojans are

grouped under it too. But this is not the case. Virus as i was taught is "Vital

Information And Resources Under Seize" that means if you catch a virus in some

ways (floppy , internet attachment) it means that it'll probably do something

bad that ur programs wont load, your documents may be damaged and u may get a

hard time. There are many types of viruses but since their major work is damage

lets group them into "Destructive" category.

Next comes Trojans. trojan is not necessarily a virus but a complex

program which tries to do more as it is composed of client and server and has

many options. client is a program used to control the infected computer(host)

infected with a server. A hacker can send the server in many different ways. a

lot of codes are attached to the server so that it leaks out your ip adress( a

personal identification of any computer connected to the internet) and makes

it easy for client to connect. So what methods hacker can use?

Many one can attach the server with pictures and other programs so

that infact when u think other program or picture is loading/seen the server

executes itself and will be executing everytime you start your computer.

Now a days Remote Access Trojans(RAt's) are very common. if you

infect a computer with server you could control it with a client anywhere in

the world. the problem is serious that client can download important files from

your harddrive c ur passwords etc.. Heavy duty trojans like sub7 can do

screencapture( sends a picture of your computer screen), can on microphone or

webcams and transfer your picture, sounds to the hacker. So though viruses may

be damaging, trojans can be double damaging depending upon the attitude of the

hacker.

Now about worms they are like worms. they need not be damaging coz

they're mainly built for internet purpose like they attach to outlook or email

programs and may be sending unwanted emails, preventing u from doing something

or even providing the environment for a possibly dangerous virus to be sent

through email.

So much for the 3 now lets discuss about protecting yourself.

i recommend you to use at least 3 antivirus programs. coz some virus detected by

one cannot be detected by other and vice versa.

Dont ever make your windows directory to c:\Windows change its name

to anything like c:\Win98

Enable real time protections of antiviruses.

You should try downloading TDS( trojan defence suite)or buying TDS ( u can get

it from downloads.com i think)coz its the best defence against trojans because

it detects newest spysoftwares and trojans though lacking in update because it

was built very nicely. if u sadhaks can manage lil bit of cunningness you can

find cracks for it.

okay there are a lot of programs running in background..and though

we c the programs running if we press ctrl+alt+del a far lot more programs

maybe running inthe back ground that may be a virus/trojan/worm/spysoftwares.

The best method to insure that your computer when started loads only

the necessary programs is;-

go to start and then in run type msconfig and press enter than go to startup

and unclick the boxes of the programs u find funny/ suspicious or useless. this

prevents the program from loading next time and you are saved from the

virus/trojan/worms loading everytime you start and sending ur personal

information or damaging. though this simple trick is 80% effective there are

some hard ways hackers use programs to load everytime.

i am sending you a processviewer that lets u c every program

runing..its upto you to find out which one is useful and which one is not and

to kill its process. its very handy to me as may trojans simply cease to exist

if unchecked in the msconfig box or killing it.

iam afraid to say that antivirus programs are very stupid. as though

it detects a dangerous virus/file. once compressed it, the av's dont detect so

you have to extra careful and have lots of knowledge yourself.

And frankly once ur computer is infected with a destructive virus..

you can say byebye to av's as antivirus are only useful to block viruses..but

if viruses make through..cleaning may not be done properly..so the best method

is to make backups ..format/reinstall...scan backups and put everything

fresh..many viruses infect executibles...meaning they add extra bits of

information to executibles like internet explorer etc sot hat they cease to

function..so if ur infected ur in trouble..creating rescue disks may help but

there is no 100% solution. one should make a habit of doing backups as soon as

possible.

As for my information..as i have found many cybercafes having spy

softwares. that means they store your password..see your typings etc. i found

this quite annoying as having to loose your password and other people seeing

your personal typings etc is very serious. pondering it i came to a pretty

interesting conclusion.. you just create a fake email adress and keep the

process viewer there.. when you go to cybercafes first you go there and

download it and run it.. THIS IS NOT A FIRST TIME ACT AS IT INVOLVES LEARNING

IN YOUR PART TOO. then you c what programs are running in the back ground ( its

up to you to decide the important files the computer may be needing like

kernel32.dll, explorer.exe etc) and with constant checking u find out that

there are similar programs running in every computer and in some computers some

extra programs are running. which u can kill of course.. this saves you from

being theift from ur valuable information) everyprogram running will be shown

there for example microsoft messenger will be shown as msmsgs.exe and if u kill

it u'll c ms messenger vanishes. though simple trick its very useful as it

closes possible spysoftware and trojans).

Though i am not satisfied with the content of this email i cannot

explain every bits of information . its upto you..if you want to be saved from

hacking, Trojans etc u got to know about them too..in my opinion.....like

diamond cutsdiamond.. i hope this babbling is of some use to you all.

ashish, true there should be sisters. i am sure there are some. i read

a few names too. Let us hope they get more active. but what about

brothers.
