I tried doing jap twice or thrice. I timed it, and discovered the it takes me close to an hour to reach a count of around four hundred beads. At that rate it would take around 20 hours just to do a jap of 101 rounds. So am I suppose to chant the mantra superfast, or what? Guest guest Posted February 4, 2002 Report Share Posted February 4, 2002 superfast chanting of mantra will happen when there is true faith in mantra and sadhana and our mind is all focussed and devoted on chanting mantra. Try to hear the recitations of mantras by Pujya Gurudev. they are just too fast. in starting i used to take some 2 hrs for 4 mala. but when devotion towards Pujya Gurudev rose in ture sense and i was able to feel the joy of mantra recitation it used to take only 1/2 an hour to do 4 malas. rather a disciple of Pujya Gurudev from whom i take guidance from time to time asked me to do some 7-8 malas of mantra japa in just 1/2 an hour. Less wavering the mind is more will be the speed of chanting mantra. recitation of mantra should be proper. feelings faith and devotion should be there.
