Guest guest
To My Spiritual Companions, Pranayam is very important for the spiritual development of the sadhak which should be practiced with three principles of yog, namely yam, niyam & asan. There are various types of pranayam, but here I shall take up only those specific ones that are useful for householders & sadhaks in accordance with the requirements of the season. pranayam can be performed in siddhasan, padmasan or sukhasan(for neophytes). 1.) Plavini Pranayam New blood is infused in the body twice in a year with the changing seasons,I.e.march-april & sep-oct.It is during these seasons that the digestive power weakens & the fury of the bile seems to disturb our disposition.Plavini pranayam is extremely beneficial in such a situation. plavini pranayam purifies our alimentary canal from the stomach to the throat. a.)it expels all the foul air from the stomach & cures all the bilious disorders & abdominal ailments. b.)it destroys parasites of the abdomen. c.)digestive power is rectified. d.)it cures hysteria of women & men. e.) by its constant practice one can live on air & dispense food for some days(helpful to spiritual aspirants). Technique:- sit in padmaasan & place the hands on knees.keep the neck & spine straight.look cheerful & close the eyes gently.keeping the mouth in round shape, start sipping air in the same manner in which water is sipped.let the stomach be bloated with air.when the stomach is filled to capacity with air, close the mouth for a few moments & hold the breath for a while from the stomach to the throat.now protrude the tongue out & bending from the lower part of the back exhale the air completely out of the lungs.start inhaling & repeat the process. The number of repetitions may be increased gradually starting from 5 rounds. Important Note:- 1.) While sipping air it should be sipped like water & do not inhale in one gulp. 2.) when the stomach is filled fully with air see to it that the air flows in all the parts of the abdomen.similarly when the air is fully exhaled out, note that all foul matter is expelled out of the abdomen. 3.) pranayam is not to be practiced by people having high blood pressure & heart patients. 4.) it should be practiced with empty stomach or atleast 4hrs after the food. 5.)it can be practiced 3 times a day. 6.) discipline of time & rounds is essential for quick results or the progress will be slow. I will appreciate any comments or views on the topic from my loving friends. Thanks. Rohit.
