To my dear spiritual companions,

In order to attain a spiritual state of mind & twisting the parts of the body in

a specially restrained manner is called a Mudra.

Mudra gains importance since they are directly connected with our mind, nervous

system, glandular system & involuntary organs of our body.Infact success in yog

cannot be achieved without a knowledge of nadis.Though there are hundreds of

mudras, it is necessary to know the relation between the fingers of our hands &

thumb with the five elements of our body.

1. tarjani or forefinger=air

2.madhyma or middle finger=ether.

3. anamica= water.

4. kanishtaka= earth.

5. thumb= fire.

Mudras:-

1.) Most used kind of mudra for spiritual people to get knowledge is "gyan mudra"

the posture of the hand on the knees in which the forefinger & the thumb of each

hand join each other.

the practice of this mudra is beneficial for alleviating the disorders of the brain.

this mudra is practiced to reduce the instability of the mind & to faster our

spiritual development.

it is suitable pose for meditation & pranayam.

15 min of continuous practice of gyan mudra brings about a transformation in our corporeal elements.

Thanks

Rohit.
